Can confirm it works with an original disc as i've just tried it with mine, just copy the DARK directory somewhere and point the engine at the exe in the settings.

Please pardon my ignorance in the post.

Is the NES classic basically a NES emulator? The reason I ask is because I desperately want to play Super Tecmo Bowl with updated rosters and I was wondering if I could do that with my NES classic. I know nothing about emulators and downloading stuff like that. Is it even possible? How would I even do it? Again, sorry sounds like a stupid post. If anybody could help me, I would appreciate it!

You have to hack the nes classic, to add new games to it. There are tutorials on youtube.

Was there ever a hack for the TG16/Coregrafx/PC Engine Mini?
Whenever I search all I get is info about a supposed hack that ended up not being released. I thought I heard about people able to add games to it but I can’t find any info.

Sadly, it doesn't look like it will happen. There are multiple reasons why.

Alternatives would be to get those games put onto one of the other mini consoles, or get a Pi.

I loved Dark Forces back in the day, and the newer game play videos look excellent.

I just remembered, there's a game I remember from my childhood, that I never played but I always wanted to play.
I just don't know what it was.

It was in the 80s, there was an arcade machine with a vertical shooter and I think you could play a jet or jet looking space fighter or something that could also transform into a robot. I think it was pretty colorful. But my memory is really fuzzy. My dad did not allow me to play it so I could just watch the screen. It was probably in the mid to late 80s, but I don't know if that helps, because I have no idea if the game was current at the time or not. If it actually looked as colorful as I think I remember, it might have been current.

I never found out what it was.

    edit:
Did a quick Google search. Found this: Finalizer - Super Transformation | Top 80's Games
But I'm not sure if this is what I'm looking for. Maybe I just don't recognize it anymore, because my memory is so fuzzy. But I think it looked more like Raiden. But this game here also has in the demo that you can immediately see how the jet can turn into a robot. Are there more games like that? This just doesn't look that colorful, but maybe I just misremember it...

I just recently learned how to burn games for my Dreamcast, so I've got a whole new library of games to explore. Never played Legacy of Kain before, but now seems like a good time to try it out. :)

Danger Robo is the only other one i'm aware of from the 80s. Macross and Macross Plus if it might have been the 90s.

They look already too modern, but awesome :D

Maybe it's Danger Robo, the levels look at least more familiar than on this game, but I think the robot looked more like the other game and I think it had more red. But who knows how far I might be able to trust my memories on this lol

I think I will check that game out later, maybe when I see it in motion I might remember. But I think the robot in the title card might be a clue that this could be right, because the only reason I waited at the screen of this game was, because I expected robots and there's got to be a reason I knew there were going to be robots in it, so probably because from the title card...

Incredibly tempted to get a Replicade cabinet - just one, probably Q*Bert or 1942/3. Anyone have experience with them? They’re on sale at the moment, and I’d probably pay in installments.

I don’t recall if I posted photos before, so while I’m visiting my parents I snapped a couple.
Here’s the Theatre of Magic pinball game I’ve done some restoration on (the trunk was already replaced a few years ago but takes such a beating it needs replaced again):

I don't think this is it, but your description reminded me of Vortex for the SNES.

Joust is a solid retro game that has so much playability. So simple and elegant, and so much fun.

Got my Genesis Mini 2 for Christmas but honestly haven’t played it much since I’ve been addicted to Horizon Forbidden West lately.
Here’s some first impressions of games I never played before:

Mansion of Hidden Souls - I know this type of game is too slow for many people, but I actually like it. It’s like a simpler version of The 7th Guest, which I played a lot in college.

Shining Force CD - I’m still in the process of playing through the first Shining Force on Sonic’s Ultimate Genesis Collection, and I honestly think I like this series more than Fire Emblem. A little simpler but less frustrating than Fire Emblem when you lose a character (no permadeath).

Truxton - Pretty intense. I know I’m going against the shmup purists when I spam save states, but it definitely removes a lot of the frustration.

Desert Strike - OK, this one surprised me. I’ve seen and heard a lot about this series over the years but never played one. I had no idea it was so strategic.

Ninja Warriors - Basically a slightly enhanced Kung Fu on NES. Not much to it but still mindless fun.

Hellfire - I heard mixed things about this one, but I really enjoy it. Didn’t take long to get into a groove switching between weapons.

Robo Aleste - I was absolutely sucking in this game until I realized the default weapon is total dogshit. Got better with some powerups. Don’t like it as much as Truxton or Hellfire though.

Viewpoint - Impressive graphics and pretty fun so far, but the unconventional angle along with weird collision bring it down a bit. Bullets hit me that seem to be passing left of me.

I ought to show off my video game nook when my husband and I finally get his old desk and my roommate's speaker out of there and the couch moved. Using a ratty office chair for seating right now.

A friend gifted me Contra Shattered Soldier for PS2. Late xmas present, due to us being too busy to meet up sooner.

Loved this game. Super hard, but I was able to beat it (back when it first came out) The soundtrack to this one is mind boggling amazing.

As I said earlier this week, here's some photos of my video game nook
    20230120_170849.jpg
    Aw yeah, NES Advantage supremacy

Old friends daisy-chained to the VCR (the PS1 doesn't currently work)
    20230120_170913.jpg
Gotta rep my grey and orange NES Zapper peripherals... even though I cannot verify if either one actually works since I don't own a CRT

I'm not finished setting up my gaming nook (hence no full view). I've got a bookcase in my living room that's gonna be relocated and used for more storage (and my sizeable DVD and Blu-Ray hoard will occupy it) there's a Blu-Ray player in my bedroom closet I'm gonna put on top of the VCR to watch DVD and Blu-Ray, and there's some other stuff I've gotta do, but I'm happy with how it's coming along!
