The original toy G2 was black. But I've seen blue and purple in other variants as well.

 

If only they were done in the Youth mould. Would have been perfection.

 

I would pin that. Get a pin vice and drill a small hole in each piece. Put a small rod between them. You will probably want that extra stability.

 

oh man, I'd so love to go in on a G2 Menasor, but I can't find a G2 Crackup anywhere..it's my only holdout. I had all the bots a few years ago too, but sold everything sadly when I needed cash. ugh

 

I thought some of the G2 copies of Motormaster that were shown a few years with the black head was just a G1 Menasor head being substituted, since the purple wasn't available for the copies.

Complete copies of G2 Motormaster shows the purple head. I believe it shares the frame with the purple roller and waist piece. I'm not 100 percent on this, but that was my understanding.


Even Hasbro went with the purple head with their Combiner Wars G2 colored Menasor, which would suggest that they were going by the intended color palette of the original G2 set.

Either way, if I can obtain a second head, I'll repaint it to match the purple on my G2 Monolith. Just need to find a paint match for it.

 

You guys with the "black doesn't match w/ g2" I'm over here like "have you looked at him?!?!"

Might as well paint it neon pink.  

 

We need to bask in his G2 gaudy glory, hence the black head must go!

Yes to the former. Actually, I asked about the chest car, offered to pay for it. They asked for a picture of what I wanted. I found a pic of Youth Menasor, circled the chest car and the head, and asked if they could sell me both. They said yes to the head, no to the car, and asked for $7 usd total "to cover shipping". I'm unclear whether they thought I wanted a replacement, or if they legit didn't want more money. *shrugs*.
They did hint that there might be a reissue of the Youth trailer soon... but given the language barrier, I'm not holding out much hope.

I'm so glad the G2 set has been getting so much love around here lately. I remember how excited I was when I finally completed the set when Motormaster came out, and the general response was "meh, G2 is so ugly but good for you I guess." But at least a few of us realize how beautiful they are in all their 90s glory.

Thanks for posting this, just ordered him! I primarily collect legend scale but these G2 Lisa Frank looking bots are too beautiful to pass up! Now I just gotta hope NewAge releases at least a teaser of their menasor soon before I get tempted into buying the rest!
