I watched Onimai: I'm Now Your Sister! and I have to reserve judgement on this one.

Because, you see, it means that Dr. Kain has to wait even longer for the series to be complete, and we can't have that. If the animators don't work overtime to give him his fix right now, they're clearly slacking off.

I read the summary on that one and just said nope to it. Didn't seem like something I'd be interested in. Now I'm just waiting for the next season. There's Tomo-Chan, NieR, Spy Classroom (Will love it), the Hero one with Inglis (will love this too), Maou Gakuin S2, Ningen Fushin, 30-dai, Angel Next Door Spoils me, Kubo-san, ShinkaMi S2, Ayakashi Triangle, and I think the Isekai farmer will be a nice Slice of Life type.

Hyouken no Majutsushi ga Sekai wo Suberu is generic from what I remember reading of the manga, will probably binge it along with the other new seasons continuations like Bungou Stray Dogs, In/Spectre, Bofuri and Dungeon (though I have to finish the previous seasons of the last 2) .

Absolutely loved this, but it's too short. Really wish it'd get a surprise second season too.

Actually no. I haven't even had the chance to read the manga yet, so I won't touch the anime until I do that first. However, they've been working on this show for what, 2 years now? The manga finished earlier this year, right? How did they not get the whole series done before it premiered? Cowboy Bebop didn't need to take a break to get all 26 episodes out. FMA Brotherhood didn't need to take a break to get all 64 episodes out. Nor did Death Note, Outlaw Star, Escaflowne, and many other anime series that were more than 13 episodes. And all of those had vastly superior looking animation.

Yeah, you've made those complaints before.

The anime industry doesn't work the way it did 20-30 years ago anymore.

Too much demand, too much competition, not enough production staff, and too many expensive, high-profile failures for a return to the old ways to ever be possible ever again.

Fair enough on some aspects, but maybe companies like Mappa should lay off on the CGI shit. They'd get more done if they let the animators animate them properly.

The CGI hardly factors into the time constraints, unless the studio is utterly inexperienced in it (not the case for any of the big names like Sunrise, Bones, Mappa, or Ufotable).

The biggest change in production is the switch to HD animation. Higher-fidelity artwork with much more detail, higher framerates, and less tolerance for stock footage is what compounds the production time.

Which is funny because if they were animating shows on film still, this wouldn't be an issue. It's only an issue because it's digital.

Ah! My Goddess - Took me a bit to watch all of this, but I enjoyed my time with it. The original OVA series has better pacing and a more serious threat to overcome than the TV series ever does, but the show obviously ran for way more episodes and gives you more time with the cast as a result. They’re both good, though I could imagine people finding the slower and longer TV series to be a more difficult watch. The movie (which is supposed to be in continuity with the OVA series) is okay, but really only worth watching for the animation. The story is very rushed.

The TV series doesn’t have an ending, and just stops with the three 2011 OVAs. It’s the kind of slice of life story that you could just keep going indefinitely with, so perhaps expecting a perfect resolution was never realistic. Guess they could always do more at some point, who knows.

Do It Yourself!! - A slice of life CGDCT about making things. The art style and character designs are fairly unique (though I’m not the biggest fan of how scrawny they end up being), and it’s a series with a very positive-attitude overall. It is mildly annoying that the girls always chant “do it yourself” whenever they’re about to do something, though. It’s likable enough for what it is.

Bocchi the Rock! - This one has quite the crazy score on MAL (9.01 at the time of writing), so try to keep your expectations in check if you watch this. The main character Bocchi kind of carries the show, with her social anxiety being the thrust of many jokes and bonding moments amongst the cast. Your mileage will depend on how much you relate to Bocchi and whether her reactions to social situations gets tiresome or not. The show took a few episodes to get going for me, but I liked it well enough by the end. The other characters are pretty whatever unfortunately, so Bocchi really will determine if you like this or not. Just don’t overhype yourself unnecessarily for this because of its MAL score or Twitter memes.

Akiba Maid War - This is a show that you’ll either adore or just kinda forget about. The premise is ridiculous, but it (largely) takes itself seriously, resulting in a show where a lot of dark stuff happens in contrast to the bright surroundings of a maid cafe. It’s gang wars but with maids, effectively. There isn’t much to the characters, so I think the absurdity of the premise will have to carry it for you.

The generic "big names" - but I'm enjoying this seasons anyway. Wish I had the time to watch more variety, but I dont.

I watch them with my daughter, but its hard, she's 16 and when she wants to watch them is random. She's at that "barricade myself in my room" phase. My wife cant stand anime - literally gets irritated if its on - creating further limitations. The only one my daughter doesnt miss a week of is Bleach. The rest will go a couple weeks and we'll knock out 4-5 eps at once. We're like 2-3 behind on Spy X, like 8 behind on MHA, caught up on Bleach, 4-5 on Chainsaw man. Halfway through Gundam WfM. She'll spend hours a day reading fanfictions about these series, but not want to watch new material for weeks. I don't get it.

    Chainsaw Man
    MHA's War Arc
    Bleach TYBW
    Spy X Family
    Gundam - Witch from Mercury

It's amazing how many people don't want to watch anime they don't already know about before they see it. This one anime Facebook group I'm apart of for some reason asked for your favorites of 2022 and I posted the likes of Miss Kuroistu and the Monster Development Department, Tiger & Bunny 2, Love After World Domination, Fuuto PI, and Bastard!!, and they started asking how can those be my favorites when they've never heard of them before. One person responded by saying if they were good series, they would have been advertised heavily and been given awards by the big sites like Attack on Titan, Demon Slayer, and Cyberpunk have been.

I told them I didn't even know Cyberpunk had an anime and asked why would you want to watch an anime adaptation of a failed video game. :lol

Anyway, the vast majority said they wouldn't bother checking them out because no one has talked about them before. :banghead:

I remember Ah! My Goddess, I think I watched it in 2017? wasn't bad, but just as you said.

So many posting about how great Bocchi is makes me skeptical about it as well, the social anxiety could be done but it usually gets kinda annoying to me after a few episodes. Will probably binge it tomorrow after my gym and errands.
Ah, so it's basically Hitoribocchi no Marumaruseikatsu but instead of just trying her best in school, she forms a band? ...kay

I never even heard of it until that post. And no, I have no intention of watching it. I've got more important things to watch instead.
