To each their own. Keep in mind these are unpainted model kits from what the descriptions say. I'd rather just pay $5 for the STL file and print them myself since they appear to be grey models anyways.
Ehw, missed that part. .^. Tho, it’s also worth appreciating that everyone doesn’t have their own 3D printer, and, given that Magic Square already abused NOCV’s good will to make their files available on Shapeways years back, that ain’t gunna happen for these designs.
I have no clue what you're referring to about NOCV? That's sad to hear though that MS stole some designs. I stand by my prior opinion on these though considering they are unpainted model kits.
Thanks for pointing that out! Was considering going for a few of these if the rest of the Ark crew were definitely coming, but if that's the price for an unpainted figure, I definitely can't justify it to myself
NOCV is the fella who designed these figures. And, I still don't think they're so bad if you have paint supplies already, but it's a little more demanding than I am immediately ready for. Still, I will probably get the Soundwave and Friends set as a dare to myself to get good, and just to support the line.
Which designs did they steal? Like specifically. I'm curious at this point. I've tried to google that and come up empty. Does he have some kind of STL store then?
Hi guys. To be clear, because I wouldn't want a potential future employer to ever get the wrong impression: Though I appreciate @GrimLocke 's recollection of my past designs, I would never say that Magic Square stole my designs. I don't think that they did. I think there are inarguable similarities between the Frenzy & Rumble that I designed for DX9's Soudwave (that live on here in the NanoBotz line, along with Lazerbeak and Buzzsaw - Ravage is all new) and the versions of those characters that Magic Square did themselves. I'd like to think maybe that I inspired someone that has since been a big inspiration to me, but I wouldn't say that they stole the designs. It's been amazing to finally see NanoBotz listed with a retailer. I can understand the concerns about the pricing for these unique figures, especially when compared to other products available, but the point remains that they are unique in every sense. While they are listed as being gray, paint them yourself miniatures, HTB is working to adapt new printing capabilities to produce these as the full color figures that they have been designed by me to be. It's exciting stuff that will really revolutionize many aspects of these kind of products, but it is expensive, cutting edge hardware that requires some serious investment. That being said, even the gray kits are something special. I have production samples of Optimus, Megatron, and Starscream, and they are awesome. Their detail really shines on them, and the articulation they have make pretty much anything possible. They're such fun little figures, and it blows my mind that I have this great little battle scene that takes up less space than a playing card on my desk. Thank you all for your interest and support.
No. The line has to start selling and making some money before I do any further work on it. If it proves reasonably successful, then rest assured more of the s1-3 cast will get the Nanobot treatment.
Looks great! I have my eye picking up a couple of these, but living in NYC x a new baby x cost of these, I'm unfortunately priced out on "collect em' all"
Final pricing is TBD from HTB. It is entirely 3D printed, with a color treatment applied to the outer surfaces during the printing process.
Just uploaded my first half of a two part review of these killer figures. These are just the resin prototypes but they are really something special!
From the front page~ TFcon LA 2023 – Dealer Room Round Up & Reveals Obviously, I am overjoyed to see Grim in both modes! <3 But, everything is coming along so well, that I might be going harder than I expected to on this line. \m/
HTB is on-site at the con and were able to get me an amazing video of Gregg Berger, voice of G1 Grimlock, commending my designs. Quite the treat! I'm happy to see HTB was able to get some prototype prints of Grimlock on display. I just finished the designs for him, Hound, Shockwave, Brawn, and Windcharger last week. Here's some renders for my favorite TF community to have first looks at: I'm glad you guys are liking the new additions. Wave 1 has done very well, so we have a bunch more on the way. Note that the dio display at TFCon is using N scale buildings, which scale perfectly.
