I think this starts to give many of us flashbacks to late G2 when names were first slapped arbitrarily.

Armada had its good points but Hasbro needed a brand manager.

If Star Trek or TMNT (Paramount properties) were run like Transformers, we'd have had a sitcom about a single mother named James T. Kirk or four human brothers named after Renaissance painters who steal Iraqi gold.

Given we know that Lorenzo tried to sabotage Peter Cullen's audition to voice big bot in the 2007 movie would it be too much of a stretch to think maybe he had a hand in Travis getting pushed aside in favor of someone who had a vision more in line with what he was after?

It's a bit more complicated than that. What I'm saying is production on a movie like this isn't as easy as just taking the model, plopping it into the environment and calling it a day. You have to work on the lighting of the scene to ensure the models blend in, the textures so that they reflect whatever aesthetic you're going for and also certain conditions that might've occurred in the movie proper, there's the matter of the rigging process and all these individual parts these robots have (Bear in mind, the original 07 Optimus was made of about 10,000 individually modelled pieces.) which you have to consider when crafting things like transformations and then there's the matter of how trailers operate which is that they never show you fully finished scenes, they show you scenes that are presentable. They could be fully done with the model but they may not be done with everything else like again, the lighting, rendering, and more because the film is still being worked on in post which in a few months could look very different and while it could still result in problems like you say AOE had? To give that film credit, unless it was the changing time of day or the dude who missed his mark if you are just watching the film normally you're not gonna notice many glaring issues.

He already stated several years ago he would be down for doing it if it he could. For example from one of his interviews for bumblebee from the Hollywood reporter, he was asked if he’d do a sequel.

More likely he wasn’t approached for a sequel.
