As others have said, yes the non-Hama Joe continuity crossed over a lot with Transformers especially after IDW went all in on trying to create a "Hasbro-verse." Skywarp even became a (reluctant) member of GI Joe. Yes, GI Joe, not Cobra. The Unicron event ended the entire Hasbro-verse. The only Hasbro stuff that got published after it were Transformers v2, the Hama GI Joe, My Little Pony, and Dungeons and Dragons, none of which were related to each other outside of the Transformers/MLP crossovers, which were their own little continuity. IDW never bothered rebooting their own GI Joe continuity. Probably an early warning sign that they were planning on dropping/going to lose both Transformers & GI Joe.

So do we know what the future of Transformers comics is post IDW? And if not, when do we expect to find out?

They did, actually. The same year they rebooted Transformers, as a matter of fact. It was a pathetic and stunted reboot that was quickly snuffed out after ten issues and a one-shot, but it happened.

I guess I missed that. Or forgot about. I guess that's how memorable it was, huh?

Something like this could still happen. The new publisher could do a mini with a Crisis-type thing (which would also play well into Legacy’s theme) and then clean the slate for whatever new stories and continuity they want to start a few months later (after the dust has settled).

I don’t think it’ll happen, though. I’m surprised we haven’t had an announcement regarding the next publisher…

I'm leaning towards Hasbro doing it in-house.

Not as a preference. As a prediction.
