I’m trying to get the whole family in on this, but there’s no kid options. I was thinking we’d go with GIJoe Classified for the adults since they seem to tower over SW Black series, then Hoth Leia for our kiddo since that figure seems considerably shorter by comparison. Just wondering if anyone has any other recommendations? I don’t have figures for all the lines so I’m open to ideas.
I think using SW figures for kids is a pretty decent idea, Ghostbusters might be a good option too, I think both of those series run smaller than most Hasbro lines, and I think the Ghostbusters mold might be one of the kids from Afterlife (though I'm not 100% sure on that)
You do realize that we’re all envisioning you as having some sort of insane, monstrous, lopsided freak-head with mandibles and antlers at this point, right? You absolutely need to share pictures when it finally shows up to dispel these notions.
hahahahahahahahahahahahaha what's funny is I actually got it in today. 1st plan for it didn't work out (going on a Valaverse Steel Brigade) because the hair is a lot stiffer than regular Hasbro figures. So I went with plan 2 and what would have been my 2nd selfie series figure, a Mando. Had to trim the hair in places, and the ball joints didn't match so I glued the head to the ball joint. In saying that, the neck on the Mando figure has 3 joints, so it still retains full articulation (as much as the hair allows). Now both my gf and I have Mandos but I've gotta track down a Dark Saber
I bet right now things are slowing down for selfie series. Basically most American hasbro fans have at least one figure of themselves. If they want to keep the line moving, I still honestly suggest they offer selfie series to international fans.
I still need to get one but last I heard they still hadn’t updated the recognition technology to handle beards.
I have a question. Even though the Selfie series is only for the US and no Canadians. I have a friend from the states coming this April. Would it work if I downloaded the app and used it on myself, then had the figure shipped to my friend's house then she will travel and and deliver it to me?
Has anyone given the Selfie-Series 2.0 a shot? Any difference in plastic quality? I played around with downloading the app after Pulsecon this year, but it wouldn't scan on my cheap WiFi so I gave up on it. But still thinking of trying one out now that they have eyeglass options. Hasbro was running sales on these figures during the spring multiple times so I figure we'll get at least another sale before Christmas.
I've seen some. The glasses are sculpted on. The scans are better and the extra options help a lot but they're still really not production quality. I think Selfie Series works best in two cases: 1. Bald guys with beards. And I say this as one. With most of what's unique being in the nose sculpt and eye printing, bald guys with beards generally fare okay. 2. People with really distinctive looks that match the options, like red hair, long beard, spiky hair They need a few more options IMHO and I'd say the big thing I think they need are more hair colors. My Dad tried it out but his dark silver hair came out white. One piece of advice: It really does work better if you make a dumb face. It's designed to allow for things like open mouth and you can get your teeth and tongue printed, which enhances the likeness. Neutral faces get the worst results. Open mouth, scared expressions, crooked smiles, etc. DO translate and help sell the likeness better.
I was really happy with my original figure even though my deco selections for skin tone and hair color weren't good matches. I wasn't thrilled with the beard print, but it was fine for what it was. I think I'm going to have to get a second figure with the glasses and beard options to really feel like it's me as an action figure, and not just a toy based on me.
They updated the app and some of the options. I just tried it on myself again, and the results aren’t really any more accurate than before.
