with Hasbro doing idw characters, i mostly want Nova Prime, Stardrive and Centurion.

 

Personally for Soundwave I'd rather get a Cybertron/Earthspark inspired mold with 2 caveats. 1, I simply prefer the G1 head and 2, that he be compatible with the current crop of tape minions.

 

Yeah, while I wouldn't mind some more IDW versions of pre-existing characters like Blurr. I'd kind of prefer their original characters to get some preference.

 

Some IDW originals would definitely be nice. I'd like a new Drift, it's been far too long since we've gotten one based on his good design.

Curious, for those that want F-22 Seekers like @Tetratron would a Voyager Energon Starscream be close enough for you? Do his energon colors as the mainline release then do the G1 main trio colors as a fan channel 3 pack and that gets a set of F-22ish Seekers knocked out.

 

Yeah, if the recent listing is Cyber Starscream, it means all we need is Voyager Energon Starscream, who has a ton of repaint and retool options.

 

Yea, though oddly, he never really got many back in the day did he? Only ones I can think of are the G1 repaint and the FunPub Leozack. He could get done as any number of Seekers, but also anything based on the G2 Starscream/BW2 Starscream mold, as well as MW Megatron and Megaplex.

 

I'd pick up an Energon Screamer pretty much entirely because I'm fairly certain the original (Super Energon variant) was my first TF figure. Even though I had no idea what show it came from, lol.

Though I'd go with one based off his "ghost" look from the first half of the show.

If "Cyber" Starscream is the Cybertron version, than I wouldn't be surprised if Energon is on a short-list somewhere.

 

Yeah, MW Megaplex and Megatron would be my top wants. But the club also gave us toys of Skyquake and Leozack.. and in the comic we had Hellbat, Gaihawk, and Hooligan from that mold.

 

Definitely a lot of potential reuses. My money would be on the G1 deco of the main Seeker trio and MW Megatron/Megaplex, which would help with Mark's wants to do Machine Wars (least based on what I've read).

 

Is probably not gonna happen (and I am probably the only person with this want), but I wish that if they indeed do a G2 Dead End a la Velocitron Shadowstrip, I would like him to have and open face like he did one the Cuberverse cartoon.

Probably one of the few instances Dead End has had characterization other than "Decepticon Combiner".

 

Joining the likes of Swindle and...maybe First Aid from IDW...and Silverbolt?

This is pretty much the only way I'd buy any of the Stunticons.

 

I know it's not everyone's cup of tea, but I'd love to see an updated Thr30 Springer mold in Legacy. Since it doesn't need to simulate Earth vehicles, it'd work well for a Legacy version of (pre-Bumblebee movie) Dropkick. And with some minor pre-tooling of the copter mode into a spaceship mode, it could work for a Cybertronian Shatter and Stardrive too.

I see a lot of potential in Santa Prime for a new Nova Prime, possibly at leader class but maybe needing a boost to Commander for the wings/trailer

I agree. Nova Prime would have to be a Commander so that the engineering for his wings (trailer?) will work for him. Wing backpack to trailer to base mode...
Now that is a Commander I would like to see in Legacy or the trilogy that comes after it.

They will have to re-shell the truck kibble to avoid licensing issues and to make it look closer to his altmode in the comics. Interestingly enough, the original IDW 2005 Nova Prime had an altmode which could easily pass as an earthmode Mad Max truck.

A voyager Energon Starscream could be retooled into Machine Wars Megaplex/Megatron. I think the bodies are a bit similar. If Hasbro wants, they could retool it into MW Megs and repaint that version into the TFCC redeco toys.

Voyager Energon Starscream could also be a pretool of a G1-ised Bayverse Starscream, as they have extremely similar alternate modes (F-22 fighter jets!) also I kinda wanna see G1-ised Bayverse characters.

 

They really do short shrift the individual combiner bots, don't they? Going from file cards, Motormaster in particular would be an interesting major character, Fireflight or Slingshot could add some drama, and Hot Spot would be a great case of a square peg in a round hole.
However, the best unused character is simple. Onslaught has never been portrayed the way he was originally bio'd. The tech spec gives the impression of a Bond villain or Grand Admiral Thrawn as this calm, organized military genius, with this hands off approach. However, when the plans fall apart, he goes ballistic and unstoppable out of frustration. Sounds like a great faction leader to me.
However, he's always portrayed as kind of an idiot because in simplistic storytelling, you can only have one smart person in a group and that job is Swindle's. I'd love to see a mini series or a story arc that gives him his due.

 

Yeah, I've always thought Onslaught could fit nicely into the "inner circle" of Decepticon leadership with Screamer, Soundwave, and Shockwave. Or as a Decepticon Big Bad in a post-Megatron type setting.

 

The post-Megatron setting would be a great area to explore in some format. We've seen him "dead" and we've seen him as an Autobot, and it's always so someone else can take over. (The most interesting take was early Marvel where Shockwave kept him as his... Let's say pet.)
I'd like to see a similar take where Meg turns, quits, or dies but instead of everyone lining up behind one of the Big Three Lieutenants, it becomes a civil war of multiple warlords. Be a great way to do the next cartoon/hotline after Legacy.
Year 1, do a Decepticon Megatron, the Combaticons and some early years allies as the bad guys for the Autobots to go through.
Year 2, do a factionless Megatron, Starscream and some Seekers and assorted cons.
Year 3, a Leader or Commander Scorponok and the various head, target, and whatever masters. You can then make that years Megatron something new like a B-2 or Osprey and make him an Autobot.

 

that's kinda what happens in the '86 movie but like, as a single scene. the autobots go "ok magnus is in charge" but the decepticons start fighting over who leads.

 

Exactly. But like you said, 5 mins later, everyone lines up behind Starscream, then 5 mins later Galvatron. It'd be cool to just have various factions with various plans and Optimus has to deal with all of the chaos.
