I saw three of them today at a Target and passed on them. Probably will regret it down the line but I’m trying to buy an engagement ring anyway. They look cool so I’m happy for everyone that was able to snag one.
Just received yesterday and finally I can display them as I ve always wanted ,for this reason I ve bought 2 boxes Devastor and around vehicles together ,and Hook and 2 trucks in alt modes are much better than CW and easier to display And G1 devastor face with red eyes also wins.
One of the reasons I wanted this set was to swap out the heads with my vintage figures to give them all red eyes but I decided against it. Anime reissues of G1 figures ala the upcoming Hot Rod and Starscream would be pretty cool and I’d definitely throw down for something like that. We would never get a Megatron unless TT decided to join in on something like that.
First time with the G1 Devastator mold. It's.. Fun, but some parts are pretty darn loose. Makes playing with the individual bots a little fiddly. I imagine they probably held better years ago heh. But one thing in particular is I just cannot keep Motor Load/Scrapper to stay attached. He's constantly popping off. That's proving incredibly frustrating when Tonkanator just falls to the ground randomly by losing a leg.
It sounds like he works just as well as the G1 original, lol. I still remember the disappointment after playing with one for the first time back in the day.
At least you’re not doing both options and then trying to marry Tonkanator instead. With six Autobots, that’d be polygamy.
Buy 2 of them and turn one of the Tonkanators (i.e. Constructicons) into an engagement ring. They are Transformers.
My Target seems to be getting more and more of them. None have moved even after Black Friday. I’m sure I’ll be able to score a set once they go on clearance.
Well that's the thing, when I said he pops off, I meant quite literally. Like It's too tight somehow and under pressure that can't hold for long.
That's exactly my experience with them as a child. The original toy was a glorified model when combined, with almost no functionality at all. A stiff wind would break it apart.
Haven't combined my Tonkanator yet but the Scrapper on my Anime Devastor came off MUCH easier than my original G1 copy, and the former also had other problems like one of Hook's arms coming off. So hoping that Tonkanator isn't as bad.
