    I voted depends.

Generations/Legacy Selects and HasCon stuff took on that role at a fraction of the cost to fans.

In 2023 a box with five deep cut figures for ~$500 reusing mass released molds in a limited release is batshit crazy IMO.

I rather they just stick with reasonably priced Legacy Selects releases.

Not especially. You almost invariably end up with a figure from a substandard mold, or a character you don't care about, or some combination of both. Much better to buy each figure individually.

What would even be the context? Store exclusive? Pulse exclusive?

No. Multi-packs suck almost as much as exclusives. There's always something you don't want that you're forced to buy to get what you do want, and despite what people say, you really cannot shift the things for anything near what they cost you.

In general, I would rather that figures not be bundled together except in the most specific of circumstances (Runabout & Runamuck, Rumble & Frenzy, Laserbeak & Buzzsaw, all members of a combiner team, etc.) and in general, I don't want any figure releases being tied to convention attendance, so if cons are going to offer X or Y gift set, it should be sold on Pulse within a 6-9 month timeframe afterward (or even at the same time or before the convention).

No. Big expensive sets that aren’t something like a combiner team cause me anxiety.

(But if it is a team, I would rather get them all at once rather than the anxiety of getting them all except that one HTF figure…)

generations selects and buzzworthy bumblebee has basically taken on that mantle, without the gigantic price tags, mediocre qc (most of the time), and a-holes like brian savage and pete sinclair.

so they've become redundant several times over.

Totally depends on the parameters for their return. If it’s a set of five team members at retail prices, absolutely.

I love boxsets, but botcon went away for many reasons. I would love some cool boxsets, but they need to be relatively affordable and available at both a reasonable rate and quantity.

No, I didn't even like that type of box set when it was being offered. I'd rather just get the figures I want.

I'm out of the loop, can you tell me just a bit about who these guys are? Never been to a collectors' con and only collecting TFs about 2 yrs now.

I like the idea of them tbh. I’d want them to be reasonably priced and also easier to access but I like the idea. It’d be cool as a way to get stuff like the tfa Stunticons rather than just what selects already provides.

Don't know what the issue with the former is, but the linked article says what the problem with the latter is.

Generations Selects have pretty much made these moot. I'm not opposed to box sets similar to what Amazon annually offers for Marvel Legends, assuming that the average price per figure remains consistent with the regular retail prices, but that's as much as I'd be interested in.

I wouldn’t want to see boxsets of similar price or with some fanfic-level theme to tie them together, but there is one thing I miss from Botcon and TFCC toys: the willingness to use existing molds in more unorthodox ways. I look at the Cyberverse deluxes, and I bet most of those figures could be turned into some ultra-obscure character with a headswap and a good redeco.

No. When I think Botcon sets I think overpriced and super limited availability for a select special few. Zero interest in seeing a return to those days.

Gen Selects and other sublines and exclusives within the franchise have made something like Botcon sets obsolete anyway. Hasbro has made what would have been Botcon fodder a decade ago available to us unwashed masses at reasonable prices.

Also, Hasbro themselves tried expensive themed sets back during Titans Return and they didn't seem to do very well even though they were reasonably priced compared to Botcon's nonsense. Then they've been doing those Buzzworthy 4-packs the last couple of years that only seem to move during sales because people don't want everyone in the set clogging shelves. I just don't think this fandom responds well to multipacks on the whole.
