Depends tbh. But I’d say yes. That being said I hope it obviously improves and Prime looks better in the next trailer/Super Bowl ad.

 

Stop pretending we need to sacrifice CGI quality for a movie that has already been delayed multiple times and could honestly have benefitted from another delay if this is the quality we will get for the final film. They had much longer than the previous films to work on the CGI quality for this film and even subtle edits as shown in this thread have shown ways they could mask the poor CGI with filters.

We are supposed to be getting a fully CGI Cybertron-based movie in 2024, are you telling me we're going to praise that if it looks worse than this because we get more robot time?

 

It looks like the standee designs are promotional art based on old designs, like in 2018 we saw Bumblebee's promo art with door wings which was innacurate to his appearance in Bumblebee (2018).

It is hella blurry, but it looks like Mirage was originally gonna resemble Jazz a bit, with a car chest (but deformed) and door wings. If this is the case, glad the final design doesn't look like Jazz at all.

 

That but also just kinda like Bee having door wings. Basically they’re more concept art based like Airazor. I mainly say this because I want and hope the ROTB toyline deluxe Wheeljack to have a G1 head.

 

Agreed. Hopefully his face will at least be close to his Cyberverse or TFA counterparts, with a "mustache". Idk why but a mustached WJ sounds... cool? Glad we are getting a unique Wheeljack with a possibly good design.

Also, maybe Wheeljack's head will resemble IDW Fulcrum but thinner and with a mustache and possibly a retractable mask.

Has anyone remarked yet on why Scourge lacks his flaming beard that everyone was so certain he'd have and remarked on consistently until now?

 

Yeah I just wish the head was more G1 looking since Arcee is (and Mirage to an extent). And since the Maximals are for the most part faithful to their source material.

From the leak and also the drawing I saw it’s very close to this. Which is neat but at least give me the fins on the sides of his head.

 

Scourge barely has anything that he was described as. Only the smokestacks and claw are present from what I can remember.

 

Maybe it flames when he’s mad? I hope he still has it. Maybe those two pieces next to his chin are it?

Edit: also you can see some red/orange coming down his face besides his eyes on his right.

 

After sleeping on it, I no longer think that the movie looks “terrible” from this trailer. Yes, some shots are weak in regards to the CGI, but there are still some shots that look pretty impressive. Also, I think some of the nitpicks about this new Prime design are a bit overblown. He looks fine. It’s like a mixture of G1 and Bay and I don’t mind the face. I actually like that he was given a cannon despite how nonsensical it may seem to some and I enjoy that he has his energon blades back. Optimus looks great and I like how they added that G1 transformation sequence while he’s driving. Also, I think it’s so cool how we are getting Maximals in an actual live action film and obscure characters and things like “Terrorcons” are being introduced to general audiences. That final battle sequence was dope as hell and looked like something out of Avengers Endgame.

Now, what worries me is that it seems to me they’re leaning into the whole “prequel” thing and are establishing more Bay connections. Not only that, but I’m concerned that the story may be weak and that some of the information from the leak that accurately predicted Stratosphere is true, like the Predacons being Skorponok clones and the sexual jokes between Arcee and Wheeljack. Also, Wheeljack probably doesn’t have his G1 head here. That’s annoying. Scourge’s design is also generic as hell. I thought people who saw the first look of his design were hyping it up? What the hell is there to even hype up? He has practically no kibble, he’s just a humanoid figure. Also, it’s like they’re trying to go G1, but can’t fully commit to it by making Arcee red, giving Mirage a Porsche alt mode, and making Wheeljack look the way he does. Also, where the hell are the other Autobots that arrived to Earth at the end of Bumblebee? It probably won’t be even mentioned. One thing is for sure, they need to actually make what continuity this film is in fucking clear and actually tell us what their intentions are.

 

Soooo... whats the big news eh? Been inactive from TFW2005 since 2018 (I was a kid when I made the acc, now I am a working adult).

Another film, hm? Just watched the trailer, looks okay, I have been quite out of date with TF stuff for a while (got a job for a few years now and been watching some other shows) but slowly regaining interest. Yeah the trailer looks meh but still feel excited.

Looks like Bumblebee dies when Megatron gives him some electric shock of sorts. Mirage is a Porsche. Arcee is on the highway, riding in what appears to be either Trailbreaker, Ironhide or Wheeljack (unlikely, he would be a car). The Maximals and Autobots team up to fight the Decepticons and Predacons, with an orange dude who is possibly Bludgeon leading the villains. Among the villains are some skeletal warriors and Skywarp is seen flying amongst them.
Yeah strange stuff a bit but oh well, hoping this film isn't like TLK. There's also a third Unicron logo idk what that is, possibly the Heralds of Unicron are involved and Megatron is one of them (which explains him wearing their mask).

 

Hell, when the Mill and Framestore did the various ads with the movie characters, they at least had some assistance from ILM (if minimal). I'm not sure if I trust MPC and WETA winging it all by themselves.

Also, where was it confirmed that WETA was involved? I didn't see it listed on their website and most sources I've been able to dig up only say MPC is involved.

I can get behind that idea. I mean it's still not the same as having his head from Bumblebee which like others don't know why they couldn't use that for his ROTB look but it's better then a potentially nastier alternative.

I'm guessing that may have been a scrapped idea that was originally planned but dropped in the final project.

Why is everyone acting like designs can't change during production lol. They probably just changed his design.

 

The flaming beard was a rumor stated by TFWiki because they assumed that's what they saw during the Paramount event but they weren't sure. They were the only ones to report it. Looks like they saw incorrectly.
