Honestly the more I look at it? The more it's just the mouth that throws it off.

 

I’ll stick to the Bumblebee movie’s 15 seconds of Cybertron on endless repeat. Beastwars was never my thing, and I preferred the G1-esque designs of bumblebee compared to these. Yes, the bots look more organic, but they look NOTHING like the adapted G1 designs of Bumblebee. Nothing about Mirage says “that’s Mirage” to me. It looks more like a Starwars droid. I don’t need slavish adherence to G1, but I loved the way they adapted The G1 scenes in Bumblebee, and this just throws that out the window. No Sphinx head. No shoulder cannon… nothing iconic from the character.

Don’t know what the hell was grabbing bumblebee. A black mass with orange eyes. No definition. Everything devolved back to Bayverse level of “meh”. Oh well, here’s hoping the rekindle the magic with the eventual animated movie. I really wanted to like this.

at least I have Mario Bros to look forward to next year.

 

If only we could have Dinobot/Maximal squaring off with Mercenary/Terrorcon as the main plot in TF4 instead of Knights and KSI nonsenses.

 

I’m surprised. I think this is the perfect blend of G1 and Bay’s movies. This is what I wanted Bumblebee to be but wasn’t. The Maximals look dope. Mirage was cool. (It ain’t practical that he be an F1 race car). Baysplosions. All aces in my book.

 

Mirage has plenty of design elements. He has the blue helmet, the general layout of the colors and again, it's not really Bayformer. Compare Bumblebee for instance from the first movie with his design here. Both look similar but whereas the Bayformer design was about the details? These streamline them into something more visually coherent and readable. The designs of the Cybertron scene were cool but we also know now they were on a time crunch to do that scene and so they had to rush with some of those designs, reusing parts and such wherever it was necessary.

And in some cases it's just something you've gotta accept. Mirage is not gonna be an F1 car because it would honestly be absurd to see an F1 car casually driving along. Wheeljack is not gonna be a racing vehicle because it would make no sense for him to be that just casually driving and if he's a scientist and not really a fighter? It would make no sense for him to have an alt-mode that's all about speed to begin with.

 

I'll see it eventually. Just like the rest since RotF, though, I probably won't be first day, second day, first month, fifth month...

 

Do people really believe Bumblebee is going to die? He’s definitely in his regular Camaro form when he’s stabbed and we know he’ll upgrade to the off-road Camaro later on. Would also be silly to reveal one of your most popular characters dying in a teaser trailer.

I also find it odd for a G1 looking Optimus to be wielding an arm cannon. Looks kind of awkward on him in my opinion. Not sure why they decided to bench the ion blaster for that.

As for the CGI since I see many people complaining about it, they have a lot of time to refine it so I’m not worried.

 

I'm getting used to it, but a part of me still really wishes that we got Jazz instead of Mirage. Might be personal bias since Jazz was one of my favorite autobots & it'd be cool to see him take on a prominent role again.

That being said I do like a lot of the new designs, I like Arcee, she looks a lot better than she did in Bumblebee. Bumblebee looks pretty nice based off the renders we got of him. Based off what I'm seeing at the ending shot I really like Primal's design.

I never said I wanted Mirage to be an F1 car. I’m fine with him being a Porsche (coz, yeah, those are on EVERY street corner)… my issue is robot mode looks NOTHING like Mirage. With bumblebee, I could instantly know Wheeljack, Cliffjumper, Brawn, Ratchet, individual seekers, shockwave, Soundwave, ravage… by visual cues. Sure, Blitzwing was changed, but he had undeniably transformers-like attributes. Mirage doesn’t. Nothing about the design says Mirage. It’s Bayverse Drift all over again. You can’t tell me they couldn’t use Mirage’s distinctive helmet, or have some blue elements?

crossing my fingers this tanks worse than Snakeeyes the movie and Hasbro takes a long, hard look at their franchises and what’s made them last 30+ years.

I know I know don\'t get your hopes up too high, but look people got there hopes up for Earthspark and it\'s turned out great so far, so screw it THIS LOOKS FREAKING AWESOME. 

But seriously as a transformers FAN that isn\'t stuck in the beast wars vs g1 or bayverse vs g1 arguments, and just enjoys transformers, I honestly can\'t wait for this movie. Characters look good, voices sound good, and the action looks fantastic.

So you want a movie to do bad because it's not what you like? Jesus christ. God forbid we need more G1 as if we haven't had enough. Get real.

I’ll never understand the people who make this argument. “Hey, see this thing that you don’t like whenever it happens? Well, it has happened before so you have to like it always!!!!!”

Some people don’t like nameslaps. I don’t think I’ve ever heard someone say “grrr I hate nameslaps in the bay movies but it’s okay in every other show and media where it happens!”

I don’t give a shit if it’s in Armada or the movies; if there’s a character called Wheeljack, it seems like common sense to me that he should probably have some visual similarity with Wheeljack.

No amount of “erm well actually it has happened before” will suddenly make me like when nameslaps (or very, very loose adaptations) happen.

What!? Don’t be ridiculous! Everyone knows that colors are childish and unrealistic! Do you want this to be like some dumb colorful baby cartoon, or a REAL movie for ADULTS where everyone is gray!?
