It's so disappointing how much they've stepped backwards from the Bumblebee movie design. It was so good. This one is definitely more janky. I've heard ILM isn't working on this film so maybe this new Studio had to re-create the designs from scratch but fucked them up? Whatever they did, it doesn't look as good as the Bumblebee movie.

As someone else pointed out, just because the movie was delayed doesn't mean the work on it proceeded at regular pace. They still have work to do, and time to do that work. Take a deep breath, don't fret, and give them time to polish the animation!

Awww this is nice. It's got the clean punchy look that Bumblebee has, which is exactly what I wanted. Voice cast looks great as well. I'm anxious to hear what the story will be like though, as this trailer doesn't really give us a lot of that.

Yet still a downgrade by Transformers standards. It may still be refined by June, but Primal didn't fit in as well with his surroundings as seen at the beginning of the trailer compared to, for example, Grimlock during his introduction in AoE. Marvel CGI is barely passable.

Wait i just realized. Prime doesn't have the gas tanks on his back like this image from a while ago. Or grill under his arms.

I wish there was a primal design that transformed into a gorilla but still had color in robot mode....

Strongly disagree with you there. There have been several first TF trailers in the past with rough CGI. This is a normal part of the process. No need to be doom and gloom! There is time for improvement. :)

    A few more thoughts-

Prime having a mouth is offputting. I'm sorry but he doesn't need a weird alien mouth. Also they trimmed down his waist for some reason?

Primal is a big boy. Jesus.

I genuinely can't tell if that's Scourge or Nightbird in the mask.

Mirage looks nice, as I mentioned earlier the hologram gimmick is good

Arcee and Battletrap are looking great, still need to see Cheetor/Rhinox/Wheeljack in better angles before deciding on them

The CGI looks a bit off at times (specifically when prime retracted his arm gun) but it's not too bad... but then again i have been playing the new pokemon game for the past two weeks so perhaps i've been desensitized

Overall i'm cautiously optimistic. Maybe i'll be pleasantly surprised. It just feels good to have a Transformers movie in theaters again.

If they were really going from scratch then why was Bay Prime’s face transplanted wholesale into BB Prime’s helmet?

It just doesn’t feel like these models got a once over. Mirage’s legs look at odds with his body, for instance. It’s just very strange the way they’ve all been designed.

Also it looks like Wheeljack doesn’t have his ears. I’m guessing he’s probably not going to look much like his BB design.

Oh that was a mouth? I was wondering why he raises the mouthplate over what seems like another mouthplate. :D
It's also distracting how Primal's beast head is a mass of tiny panels. That stuff would get wrecked so fast if anyone hits him. Arcee's face looks far better, less moving panels.

Surprisingly he is in a lot of this. AND gets to fight Primal. Makes me think he will be like the second-in-command of Scourge and survive to the end of the movie, since that big battle is likely the ending.

"Hahaha Fortress Maximus has come himself."

It's funny how some of the most vocal complaints about the Porsche being Mirage come from people who already hated the live action movies anyway.

As if naming it Jazz would matter and they wouldn't have moved on to some other complaint. Like how he didn't act Jazz enough.

Boy, this film's robot mode designs are awfully generic looking. Mirage, Battletrap and (I'm guessing) Wheeljack all are going for the typical car-front chest, with little else distinguishing about their designs, while Scourge, Primal and Cheetor just look really, really plain and nondescript, like they were designed as background bots. Also, why does Arcee look almost like she was ripped straight from the BB Cybertron scene, when every other Autobot has a far more highly detailed design?

This could suck and the fact of it being an honest to god Beast Wars movie would carry it over the line for me, lol oh my god

Yeah, and I was the same way with The Last Knight.

Funny, I seem to recall every single criticism I had of that shitshow being right, too.

ROTB is looking to be a revisit to TLK in all the worst ways.

I do love how every defense on why Mirage had to be a Porsche with a blue stripe down the middle (or why it couldn't just have been Jazz, even in the trailer he does that spinning move when transforming...you know, the same thing Jazz does in the first film?) more or less boils down to apparently it being literally the only European sports car that existed in 1994. Because the idea that they could have just, y'know, used something else like the 1994 Lotus Espirit or the Jaguar XVS V-12.

And nobody gave a shit about the 5 Lambos because they all looked different, including the two that are canonically twins and actually would have an excuse to look identical.

Given the use of Movie style Autobot logos when they shouldn't be using them if this is a Bumblebee sequel, I'm certain the only reason Prime suddenly has a movie style mouth is this movie is intentionally being tooled to lean more towards a heavier bayverse slant.

    Because Lorenzo, I'd bet.

It doesn't look horrible, but as a fan of the deeper lore of Transformers this still doesn't look like the movie I really want. After seven fucking tries. I'll see it at some point, but not in theaters. I don't want to support these movies until they start to actually deliver on the promise made by the first 3 minutes of Bumblebee.
