Got gifted a Legacy Hotshot and felt the boy need some love. He is really nice out of box, but just needs a splash of color to get to his full potential.

Still need to add a lighter grey to the forearms and then he is done.

I wonder if there's a way to attach the windshield halves onto the forearms and still have it transform. Looks great! Don't forget the red hubcaps

If you don't mind partsforming. I bet you could use a ball bur to open that spot on the back of his wrist to accommodate the red ball joint the window is held on by

I feel that you can probably even make it transform like that too, but I've only seen a review where it was transformed so idk

 

Great work, you really solved my main issue with this figure! I'm definitely going to try and do the exact same thing once I eventually pick him up, so I was wondering what paint you used for that deep red/maroon?

 

I wanna to the arms all in one go. So I will find a good match for windshield.

 

The Red is specifically Game Color's 72.011 (Gore Red/Rojo Visceral)

Did two coats. It's not the same red as the red plastic. I wanted it to match the maroon on his animation model's codpiece. Make the colors a little more cohesive.

 

The rooftop piece is very oversized compared to his arms. There is also a piece that needs to turn for transformation, on top of the fact that the inside of the roof piece sits shallow. So it won't go flush under the arm. Magnets could work??

I will say that for the week or so I have had him, the arms don't bother me, and his articulation is not hindered as much as people might think.

 

There isn't enough clearance currently. You would need to wait for, say, DNA to do an upgrade and that might mean new legs and arms
(Which personally at that point I feel is gonna set you back the same if not more than buying a new figure, altogether)

The arms have to straightened completely at he sides of his torso.

The first picture is the proper transformation on the right side, with the animation style transformation being attempted on the left.

Yes, so fun thing about trying to nail down the best "Animation accurate" color scheme..... it is different between most official art pieces.

Sometimes his hubcaps are red, other times dark grey. The circles on his shins change from black, to silver, to the same dark grey as his arms. In a few promo art pieces they have NO color and are just yellow. Sometimes there is red on his upper arms, with the black hexagons.

That does give a nice sense of freedom with picking favorite parts to paint a certain way. But if you want one true look to go with, there really isn't one.

Awesome job honestly phenomenal job brother primus would be proud. Now all we gotta do is get some mini cons that work like the original and we should have some clean armada figures incoming. Maybe some 3rd party guys can do us a solid and give us that. Do they need to like make the parts deploy or anything no but 8t would be cool to have and give us as a community a new reason to buy these xouse these are done so nicely
