Exactly my view. Like how can you dislike canon? It's canon! That's not to say stylized versions can't be good (see TFC Seacons) but being annoyed by companies faithful to the original is so weird to me. When people complain about the animation, generally their complaints are that it wasn't consistent, and that the animators often screwed up colors, scales, character factions etc. But the actual character models themselves, they're all brilliant in my view because they're originals.

It's in the hands of fate now, we won't know until something pops off! The Sovereign-M re-issue may have pushed the Thomas re-issue back a bit.

I like canon just fine but I think the stylised Hasui era bots are the gold standard of the MP line. The cartoon accuracy does not translate well to plastic toy robots.

This is my FT release philosophy. I’m just pleasantly surprised when I get an invoice because I totally forget when what is coming out.

Plus it’s easier to explain to the missus that it’s dalianjj’s fault why those charges mysteriously popped up on our credit card bill.

That Chinese post must be pretty old, because it's saying that there's already a sample for FT Jazz, like seriously?

Anyway, next year which could be 2023 or maybe even this year depending on when that post was written, we should see the following from Takara:
    - MP Soundwave 2.0.
    - MP Blitzwing. There's already both a colored sample and a gray prototype.
    - MP Springer. Gray prototype already available.

    FT:
    - They have a colored sample of Blitzwing. He will come with a lot of accessories, including replacement pieces(?).
    - They have finalized the colors for Fortress Maximus. He will be .... cartoon accurate. He is also 1.2 meters in height.
    - There's already a sample for FT Blaster. Packaging has been finalized including box art.
    - They have a sample for Jazz ......

And then there's all sorts of rambling towards the end that I just don't want to mistranslate, but supposedly, FT already have a sample for Deathsaurus (还萨拉斯) .......

Anyway, I am super tired today, so hopefully someone will pick up the slack.

    Wait what?

    Takara is doing a blitzwing?
    Am I misreading that?

It's not that old, as the box art from Recorder was not done until June of this year. It's probably from after July.

BSF's complaint about Fanstoys wasn't that they are faithful to the toon, it is that they USED to release more mature and better proportioned figures that had their roots in the cartoon, but have now switched from that particular Fanstoys style to basically doing the same a lot of other companies are doing, which is copying the cartoon as best as possible. I agree with him that it cost them their flair.

In my opinion X-Transbots has taken old Fanstoy's place design-wise, because while their robotmodes are getting more toon, they strike a nice balance between realism (by having the alt-modes look real) and cartoon. Don't get me wrong, X-Transbots is nowhere near the quality of build, paint and engineering that Fanstoys delivers, but their releases are getting to be more visually appealing. In the end that is the only thing that matters to me: Does a figure look good on a shelf and can it hold a pose.

That's exactly right. At this point I really just want the combiners but I'm worried that after Menosaur and Superion the combiners will become more toon too.

It's just a shame that TW Devy is so poorly built because the styling would go well with my collection. Last obvious character I really want from S1. Hopefully XTB does well but maybe I should just accept my fate and get the JinBao OSKO Gravity Builder. Wonder what everyone else who prefers the "hybrid" style is doing...

I somewhat agree. Their recent change with Blaster is proof of that. I actually think the gold would have been more FT. That said generally FT still keep the heroic proportions in most of their figures. Good example is the upcoming cliffjumper. I like watching BSF, but his subjective opinions are his own. Het prefers MMC mirage, while I really like FT's version. They do should give more options like they did with sound wave.

Respectfully, Fanstoys didn't make Cliffjumper heroic at all. He just happened to already have decent proportions in the cartoon (minus the oversized head).

Fanstoys made him every bit as plain and bland as the cartoon design was. There are no technical details whatsoever, not even any headlights or chrome bumper on his feet.

A few thoughts. Whatever sells, there's going to be more and more of. It's not a matter of who's more vocal online.

Also, "real world vehicles' might be 10% of Transformer toys out there. By far there are more imaginary vehicles.

In terms of "beloved characters," its an evergreen franchise for a reason, you know?
