Okay I've had Berserker for about half an hour now and my first impressions aren't great. I am personally a big fan of Crowbar because for all his visual sins I think he is a very solid and fun figure and I enjoy his transformation plenty. But I can tell now where he improved on Berserker because holy hell Berserker sucks to transform


It sucks ass. Everything untaps itself and a lot of tab need shaving. The windows on his forearms also pop off a lot which is irritating as all hell

But he looks so much better than Crowbar in bot mode tho. Much more cohesive color wise, he makes Crowbar look like the pretool. Sucks that his hips are plenty lose, but I will fix that. Same with his arm windows.



I can't wait for Hatchet though, hopefully his tolerances are like Crowbars.

 

Berserker was one of those toys that I pulled back out every month or so thinking, "Surely it can't be as bad as I remem--" (five minutes pass) "WORSE" until I finally got rid of it.

 

What sucks is that I legitimately don't think the mold is bad at all. It's just the atrocious QC

 

What's the consensus on this guy? Worth getting for the $6 from Target? Or should I stick with my incredibly-out-of-scale-for-SS MB-EX Laserbeak?

 

I mean it’s a core class. So if you have other core classes it’s about what you expect. Idk if a core class vs Deluxe is much of a comparison.

Can always have both and have 2 pink bees.

Actually, I don't have any of the recent Core class, so I don't know what to expect lol.

 

They're actually pretty good. The arr simpler than deluxes for obvious reasons, but a lot of them still have great engineering. I don't own lazeebee yet, but he looks good

 

cores are awsome, definitely deserve a pick up. awsome little fidget toys with surprised articulation and engineering.

 

It’s basically legends class, except now they have knees and elbows. That’s about it. A fun small cheap simple figure.

 

Sweet Jesus that is beautiful. This guy is definitely on my to-buy list for the new year! Only other thing I would've liked to have seen included is an alternative Nemesis head with the red scars and some purple LEDs in the eyes

Yeah he’s really fun and nicely posable. Only thing is the hands are mad annoying cause you gotta swap them out constantly and they only provided one set of hand guards so you gotta swap those out every time too. But it’s worth owning for sure. Lots of fun.

 

This design did NOT start out as a favorite of mine, way back in Ye Olden Daes of TLK’s release, but, man, has it ever grown on me.

It isn’t what I’d expect of or think of when picturing “Optimus Prime” in my head, but it truly is an almost… Odyssean or Arthurian character-design.

The curves and sweeting beveled flanks and almost jewelry-like plating of this particular Optimus just SCREAM “Legendary warrior and royal of a noble dynasty, reforged in the image of a past paid homage to in bloodshed, sorrow, discipline, and dignity”.

With darker metallics, a bluer head, deeper, richer colors and less greebling along the belly and legs, TLK Optimus might actually hypothetically be one of my favorite (STRICTLY VISUAL) takes on the character.

here’s a tutorial on how to fix that open window issue that’s plaguing this line especially for us box collectors. I really hate the direction Hasbro is going and their justification that this simple slim sheet of PET is enough to damage the environment when they already are wasting plastic with unnecessary repacks and repaints in the other toy lines they make and the retro marvel legends being full on PET shells…and not to mention the fact these boxes don’t even get recycled half the time. Anyways rant aside this is a way to ensure the figures condition and the box condition is a bit more sturdier, all these windows had severe damage to the cut outs and other parts of the box when I got them and the plastic sheet helped keep the character cut outs in place and not bending.

now I’m not sure where this type of post is supposed to go but I figured for us movie fans this can help. Same method applies for legacy and the likes just shape the sheets with the box style and you’re good to go.

Side note: please be aware this requires opening and undoing the box entirely, the glued in section behind the numbered side of the packaging is arguably a very important part of the box aesthetic for in box collectors who want to make this fix, so please handle your boxes with extreme care when doing this. I will take better images soon when I get my hands on another studio series figure, I’ll try to do one for nest Bonecrusher since the voyagers boxes in buzzworthy appear to need a longer and angled sheet applied.

Quick question for you guys, what Blu-Ray version of Dark of the Moon is the best to get? I know that there are multiple releases of most of the Bay movies and I have the 2007 and ROTF blu-rays that have all the special features but I wasn't sure if there is a DOTM equivalent. Any help would be appreciated!

 

Yeah I do love the design, and yeah it took a while for me to warm up to it. I think in an ideal world it would have like 15% more truck kibble on it to really complete the look, but the overall silhouette and the proportions and angles are just *chef's kiss* to me. I would add some wheels in the backs of the calves, some of the grill in the torso and maybe some little detail like the side view mirrors or something. But I do love the design as-is, and the head/face is definitely an improvement over the OT version. I do think the OT version is my "favorite" simply because it's more iconically "Optimus" and has truck kibble, but I really do love both versions.

 

Props to you for turning around and liking it. I kinda did a reverse. I use to like it and now I’m somewhere between eh to very bad.

 

Knight Optimus is cool but personally it kinda irritates me. Love the truck mode, silhouette and Josh Nizzi's work but the design kinda rubs me the wrong way. To me it screams "Look at how cool I am I don't need kibble because this ain't your daddy's transformers". AoE being imo one of the worst representations of Prime also didn't help.

 

Got my SS-05 PF Optimus Prime (a mouthful) the other day and he’s great! Paint makes him much much better, though still skimped out on the legs which is unfortunate for the leader price tag. He’s so much fun to pose around and the accessories included are great. Would’ve liked an unmasked version as well but it is what it is. Blade buddies!

 

Not to get off topic but yeah thats my biggest problem with the design - how kibbleless the design is.

I get the knight style but still it’s missing kibble that tells me it’s a Transformers and not just a robot. Because imo minus the smokestack’s and face it doesn’t give me Optimus Prime vines. Even Peterbilt Prime has Optimus elements to him and made him feel like Optimus.

But again if you like it I’m happy for you and look forward to seeing a SS toy of it. And there are elements like the head design that I like just overall not the biggest fan. Still one of the Prime designs I grew up with so there is a little nostalgia for it. Just not like TF1-3 Prime.
