    Great video @PrimeVsPrime !

I do have a few comments:

    • Victory Leo: The face flap, do you need to move the face flap down? Trying to think of ways to avoid scratching my copy.
    • Chest Gold Paint Flaking: Unfortunately, this is super common on even the G1 and MP versions; is that flaking from handling the figure or just packaging negligance from Hasbro?
    • Victory Leo Jet and Lion Mode: Those transformations are spot on with the G1 version (For better or worse..). KFC's Simba tried to fix the tail situation by including an actual tail. Leo's jet mode always felt like an afterthought but he is essentually Star Saber's high heels lol.
    Critiques:
    • As a Victory fan, put some respect on Holi lol!

Great review! Thank you so much for taking the time to put that video together! You are one of my favorite reviewers!

Do you have something resting on your space bar lol? Theres double spaces in nearly every gap.

It includes more accesories, and a much nicer box than most commanders, then you have to consider the fact that it's a one-off haslab, and the complexity of him. In all, I think its easily worth more than commander price, in the same way rodimus was. He wasnt huge, but he was very complex, and articulated, with heaps of fun accesories. That said, It's a completely different aestetic to the mp, and the mp is a really nice looking figure anyway.

As soon as I saw some folks in China got theirs shipped accidentally, I knew this was inevitable.

Agree with those that made the points about Haslab Victory Saber VS MP Star Saber; they might represent the same character but they do it in two very different ways. IMO the MP is by far the better standalone Star Saber in terms of aesthetics/proportions, though it has a few niggling joint problems (to say the least) and the same proportions that make it an amazing SS don't necessarily work as well for a VS even if you manage to track down a Simba. In contrast, the Haslab SS and Victory Leo don't pay as much homage to the cartoon as the MP did but they look to be far more playable and have a Victory Saber combination that looks to be damn near perfect proportionally in both super robot and super-jet... thing.

Just throwing it out there, if you’re one of those folks who, for whatever reason, only wants Star Saber and not Victory Leo, PM me.

Before all the folks come out and say “No one would do that!”, etc, etc, I’m only throwing it out there because people have indeed said that they were leaning that direction. I simply want them to know if they did decide to go that route that there is a buyer.

So are the hollow arms on Saber only a complaint on the HasLab? Because the MP-24 version also has hollow arms on Saber.

It's probably always going to be a thing with G1 Star Saber toys, because his forearms aren't rectangular. Its shape wouldn't be covered by a simple flat panel, and having a properly contoured one would interfere with the hand folding in. It's either that, or you give him fat forearms that interfere with how tightly he can fold up for jet and torso-block modes.

My enthusiasm dampened a bit with the review. This is plainly a cost cutting mass market design that sold for a premium price. Greatest swordsman in the universe and he can't even make a proper sword pose. Expect a DNA kit to fix all the articulation and hollowness of his weapons that Hasbro wouldn't. I'm glad to have the character, but would rather that these guys had been sold for a reasonable mass market price in Legacy if they were going to have all the compromises of the main line.

The issue with this mentality is if Hasbro had done it, just tack on the price of the kit minus $5 to the base price

As someone who isn't familiar with Japanese G1 and did not back the set, it looks good.

However, the combined robot form between Saber (big red/white/blue guy) and Victory (orange/black lion guy?) is somewhat underwhelming.
He just becomes boots and give him guns.

IMO CR/RID2001 Prime and Magnus is a better 2 bot combo.

The more reviews I'm seeing the more I'm convinced Star Saber could've just been released as a retail commander & Victory Leo as a leader. Victory Leo especially feels like he could've just been released as a leader with no differences. Star Saber I can kind of see how he benefited from being a haslab, but man it really feels like Victory Leo was done dirty lol

I mean at the end of the day for me he'll probably be left as a pair of shoes & a jetpack for Star Saber. But it does suck that he has all these problems, as at least I have a reason to want to display him in bot mode unlike Godbomber.

The fact that the tab on Saber's shins has a stress mark when it doesn't really tab anywhere is very bizarre.

The paint on Victory Leo's face scratching off is gonna bother the fuck out of me lol

I'm typically tolerant of hollow bits, but ngl Victory Leo's shoulder guns are a bit unsightly. Not sure if its the worst I've seen in terms of hollow bits (that honor still goes to Dai Atlas' cardboard cutout shins), but it is still pretty eh.

At this point I will literally sacrifice Victory Leo, Holi & Fire to the QC Gods if it means I get a perfect Star Saber lmfao

I really hope they get their act together (QC wise) for Deathsaurus (if he gets backed).

Buuuuuuuut on the positive side of things. I'm officially back home. I couldn't bring everyone back, but at least I was able to bring 3. If I had more room I would've brought Eris Kultur back with me too. At least my family is gonna ship the rest back home to me. Gotta say I love seeing my shelves every time I come back home from a long trip lol

I guess to spread some hype I thought I'd finally share my G1 Star Saber displayed with my only other G1 figures. Really looking forwards to taking a photo of G1 Star Saber with the haslab figure :)

Really hope a Skyquake update happens so I can have him go against my haslab Star Saber lol

Rather doubt it. I'm looking at getting the new megatron dna kit and it costs as much as the figure it's upgrading went for in the first place. Pretty sure hasbro could have filled out the waffle weapons for less than $360, I'm sorry, "$355".

The bare-bones package was probably what we would have seen if they'd made the cuts to make the set available at retail. Many people are take it or leave it on the majority of the accessories, but the V-Lock Cannon getting cut was probably their big incentive to push this up to a HasLab offering. And then spring a little more for extra paint work and other bells and whistles aside.

Saber is the jet. The V Star is the white and blue booster unit. Together they make star saber. Victory Leo is the lion, and when he combines with Star Saber, they make Victory Saber. Victory Leo is a new body for God Ginrai, the japanese Powermaster Optimus interpretation

I’ve been super tempted to sell my two sets and just get the Planet X versions and this review didn’t really push me away from that. There’s nothing at all wrong with it and it does look very cool, etc. I dunno, the potential QC issues and the spectre of yellowing are making me question whether it’s worth keeping.

Watched the review, the figures are nice, especially Star Saber. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that my copy doesn't have any major QC issue because I'm not sure if I'd be able to return it for a new copy (and how much it would cost me doing so) since I bought him from a 3rd party retailer.

Apparently a Hasbro customer service say Haslab Victory Saber is going to start shipping on 12/05 from this video. Will it ship on 12/05 who knows.
