I remember when that Green Skylynx lio Kaiser set came out was hoping a 3p would've done tho torso bots plus say hands feet and weapons as an upgrade pack. It had some potential if that was doneKaiser

You guys think that maybe Rise of the Beasts might be a good excuse to do an obscure JG1 character set like LioKaiser in another HasLab rather than the mainline?

If they’ve gotta push out a new movie toy line that’s gobbling up shelf space for most of next year (possibly 2024 as well), when would they ever find space in the mainline release for SIX characters with no new media association like LeoZack, HellBat, GuyHawk, Jaguar, KillBison and Drillhorn. (Let’s not even mention a possible DeathCobra).

Is this push back on any possibility of a LioKaiser HasLab coming from a personal desire to see something else?
    I just…
I mean, look, obviously this would be my personal preferenced way for the BrestForce to get made, for previously stated reasons.
But more than that, it just adds up to do a special run like these crowdfunds over a slow trickled mainline.

Let’s assume Deathsaurus get even CLOSE to the numbers Victory Saber had. You have a built in audience for another release in that same vein. I’m not sure “diminishing returns” applies here, unless Deathsaurus ends below like 20k.

Not trying to argue with anyone, but I honestly feel like there’s every reason to believe another Victory HasLab could happen, and soon. Maybe not this next year, but if there’s money to be made, especially in a tried and true way, there isn’t any reason to doubt that would be the most viable option for it.

You could make this argument for Thrilling 30. I mean Crosscut? Roadbuster? Sky-Byte? Scoop? None of these characters were being used in media UNTIL Hasbro had IDW shoehorn them into the current run, and T30 ran alongside both an AOE toyline and a Generations Subline dedicated to AOE figures. Shelf space is usually increased for Transformers during movie years as well. And to further my point, having all those characters in the mainline would have a "collect them all" appeal so kids would try to get all 6 members. Anyways, current media doesn't really effect when characters get toys in generations UNLESS they become a breakout character (Nautica in Titans Return is a good example.) I mean, do you see a new Transformers show with Lio Convoy and Prime Dreadwing duking it out for glory coming anytime soon?

Even if he makes it to 21k, he'd still be nearly 20% less profitable than Victory Saber. It does not help that a HasLab Liokaiser would most likely be nearly 400-500 dollars if done next year. The math is just not there to support another Victory HasLab.

Literally the fact that it would be super expensive and wouldn't sell as much as either Deathsaurus or Victory Saber

You do make some interesting points about thrilling 30.
However, I believe it’s worth keeping in mind a few things:
Victory is about 10 years older than even Beast Wars Second, and more than 20 years older than TF Prime. Lio Convoy and Dreadwing are leaps and bounds more popular characters than ANY victory character aside from maybe Star Saber. ( and even then…)

Also during Thrilling 30, HasLab didn’t exist, and so far they’ve used it for either obscure, old, complicated, or gigantic characters.

And they’ve kept the last two under $200.
If we can assume Six Member LioKaiser team would be voyager scale, no reason it couldn’t be less than $300, give or take. (Not sure where one could pull $400-$500 from.)

Also, according to the comparison graphs on this thread, Deathsaurus is looking to be doing at least as good as VC. So why for any reason other than an arbitrary “Diminshing Returns” rule would one assume Lio Kaiser, who’s been mentioned as a demanded contender for a HasLab OR mainline slot, be less than either VC or Deathsaurus?
There’s always exceptions to a rule, especially ones interjected into a situation that already has evidence contrary to it.

    Also also;
Any of those thrilling 30 characters you mentioned were easy repaints with minor retooling.
Lio Kaiser would need some pretty unique builds to be anything close to accurate. o_O :D

That's fair. I don't begrudge people who bought a third party product because Hasbro/ Takara Tomy hadn't made an official one, and are happy enough with their 3P purchase they don't feel like getting the official one when/if they finally get made. I think back to all the 3P Impactors, and how for a long time the only retail Impactor was the less-than-impressive Generations Fall of Cybertron version.

You know, as long as they don't start disparaging people who do opt for the official version. Live and let live, eh?

We need a base Cicada mold if we're ever going to get a Tripredacus set in Legacy, so it could happen. I don't know how they'd handle Ramhorn, but Scorponok wouldn't be too hard to retool into Sea Clamp. Modern BW Scorpy looks more like Sea Clamp than his own original figure.

For me, it'd have to be one heck of a presentation to sell me on the concept. I was willing to fork out nearly $800 local currency for Unicron, $380 for Victory Saber (and I got two!) and an estimated $310 for Deathsaurus (two of him too!) because I have emotional attachments to the characters and have waited for a long time for something that feels like the definitive versions.

In comparison, the S.T.A.R.S. etc don't really mean anything to me, so that's already a pretty big hurdle to overcome.

Yeah that's precisely what I was trying to say. I wasn't able to iterate it further since Thanksgiving prep and what not.

From what I've been told, Star Saber is almost as popular as Optimus Prime in Japan and is definitely better known amongst western audiences than Lio Convoy, who's only really been used in an obscure BW comic and BWU.

So far HasLab has been used to produce sets that Hasbro didn't think retailers would carry, but both characters were at one point intended to go into mainline. Star Saber was most likely intended to win the POTP poll and Deathsaurus was going to be a leader until they realized they could make him more accurate with a HasLab budget.

It's been said that if last year's HasLabs were done under current costs, they'd all go up by a decent chunk. Star Saber would probably have been sold at like 250$ I simply do not see a world where 6/7 voyagers (Which will probably be 35-40$ in mainline by the time they get done in HasLab, are going to cost less than 350$ (And that's IF they are all voyagers and not split up between different classes). Deathsaurus at his base is just a 100$ figure with two core figures sold at 180$. If we get his stand and weapons it becomes more worthwhile, but as it stands you are looking at a 60$ HasLab tax.

Your argument was that these characters were not in recent media. I just gave an example of two characters that are taking up expensive slots that have not been in major media in years. All three leaders are characters that haven't been showcased in 10+ years and most of the voyagers this year are obscure as shit (and it is a movie year, this year Liokaiser would most likely be a 2024 thing). And sure, Deathsaurus is looking "just as good" right now, but that's a mixture of people who backed VS being more likely to back this one immediately + what seems to be more consistent affiliate dumps.

Okay, this makes the least sense because only one of them was a repaint, the rest were unique molds that only got reused in Japan. And those were just the characters that I could remember. There are more obscure characters/c-listers in T30 than there were characters who were in recent media.

I want the omnibots and power dashers, but don't really need it at a haslab level either. maybe they could include parts of the background in the individual packages that could be put together to form a bigger scene. Kind of like the studio series backgrounds.

Also, less than 600 to go for Deathsaurus!

Alrighty, guy who insists on arguing with me despite me saying I don’t wanna argue.

Let me ask you some questions that are just your opinion, where you can use all the conjecture you want (since, well, that does seem to be your main tool).

Do you just not want a HasLab ever again?
Or is it just LioKaiser that you’re against or simply doubt they’d do one?

Or perhaps, do you just enjoy arguing online?

Actually… don’t bother answering or responding, I literally don’t care.

Guess we’ll just wait and see how it all turns out.
I promise I won’t bother you by stirring you up with my reasonings. Enjoy the rest of your life sir, and your future figures, be they HasLab or Mainline.

Yes, that's the thing, isn't it? Little undercuts Third Party more than the announcement of an official product. Off the top of my head, one of my last ever Third Party purchases was a not-Sixshot, but ever since Titans Returns Sixshot was released I've seen the 3P versions being sold at much lower prices than before.

Of course, I don't mind 3P stuff meant to compliment official products, like weapons and accessories. I remember wanting to buy a conversion kit to turn one of the Prime Predacons into an Aligned-styled Deathsaurus, but because I couldn't find the base figure I'd need I ultimately didn't.
