They could go the modulators from earthrise route and give it a unique robot mode to make it "an actual transformer", but that would run the risk of alienating purists who want just a ship mode & base mode

MP Raiden is basically CHUG Raiden. Hasbro could offer it as a Selects piece in a set, though, minus the track pieces. If it came in around $600, I'd be tempted.

I can't see Raiden being the next one since he's in the middle of getting the MP release... at a price that isn't too much higher than whatever a Haslab version would cost.

As others have said, I don't see Primus being popular enough to work.

Where did Hasbro confirm a mainline Liokaiser? Or even semi-confirm?

If I'm not mistaken, in the case of Superboy/Superman and Cable/Nathan Summers, isn't the separate creator credits the result of them actually being created by different people? Seigel and Shuster didn't have anything to do with the creation of Superboy, and if I remember right Cable wasn't revealed to be Nathan Summers until much later by a different creative team than his original creators (to the point that in a What-If, Cable murders Cyclops as part of one of his "I do the dirty work" jerkwad plans).

In comparison, both Josie and Circuit Breaker were created by Bob Budiansky during his run as writer from the Marvel comics... though I guess the fact that in her appearance in Secret Wars II there's no hint at all about her identity as Josie Beller that's why Marvel can only claim that "Circuit Breaker" appeared in Marvel comics and so belonged to them.

I’d be down for a HasLab Primus, or even a 3d plastic STARS play set (at the right price), but I see it as far less likely than another Victory figure.
But yeah, it’s the same reasoning: Primus, Overlord, guys who are definitely more suited to mainline than picking up individual figures over a year or two period of LeoZack, Blacker, MachTackle, Braver, KillBison, etc.

I’m tellin ya, despite what people keeps saying, these haslabs are an excellent way to do the whole obscure JG1 character thing, and do it right!

I think the secret to a Transformer HasLab success (at least where Star Saber was successful and Deathsaurus is trending to be) is a fairly reasonable price!
(Please, no arguments about how DS shoulda been a Commander or leader, or this is too expensive for a gun and chair, blah blah blah).

So whatever is on the horizon for transformers HasLab, please Hasbro, try not to charge a lot more than you have been! (Unicron notwithstanding. )

Hahah. I think I've heard similar arguments about the Ark and how it shouldn't have a robot mode... but I just don't transform mine. It's pretty much mode-locked into ship mode (barring the rare occasions I feel like transforming Mainframe). In a similar vein, I wouldn't mind a Nemesis that transformed into Trypticon because that's what happened in the Aligned universe, but if it was some brand-new robot mode I'd probably transform it once just to see how it looked, and then leave it permanently in ship mode.

There's a rumor floating in the ether about 6 individual releases AND a full set, ala the SS Constructicons. It's worth mentioning but not worth throwing extra weight into the rumor at this stage, I'd say.

We DO know that Hasbro has implied "no more Victory" in Haslab, so retail is really the only other alternative. The question is honestly when and how it happens...could be soon, could be years from now.

That's why I'd couple it with the Omnibots. A STARS set with Omnibots and then Core Class Powerdashers as tiers.

A haslab Primus…I *might* back. And that’s really just for the Cybertron mode, assuming they model it off of the Sunbow art.

That'd be the ONLY way I'd pull the trigger. If it's just the Cybertron series version upscaled, I'd rather just have it as a Titan at retail.

Yeah, the only thing about "no more Victory in Haslab" is that it makes it kind of hard to imagine what on Earth could be offered next. Like, with Marvel you still have other "giant" characters like Fing Fang Foom or the Tri-Sentinel, or vehicles like the Fantasticar or Quinjet, or locations like the Danger Room or Daily Bugle newsroom. In comparison, it's kind of hard to figure out what would work well for a TF Haslab that would most benefit from being a Haslab.

My hypothetical HasLab Devastator would emphasize individual robot modes and scale with Legacy Menasor (combined Devy would be as tall as Legacy Menasor). So you'd reduce the bulk/size/chunk of CW Devy and vastly improve the sculpt and articulation of the individual robots. You'd still have combined mode but that would no longer be the priority of the overall design. Each figure would be around the height of Siege/ER Starscream, basically voyager. And the whole point is update the final piece of your WFC/Legacy Season 1 Decepticons. You're gonna get Constructicons that will look great with Siege/ER Megs in group shots and dioramas.

I am beyond confident that Hasbro will eventually update the Constructicons and their robot modes will be the emphasis. Hasbro has been on a tear updating the Season 1-3 Autobot and Decepticons. It'll happen sooner or later (and yes, I recognize that CW Devy got reissued a few years ago but we had PoTP Dinobots and look what happened with SS).

We'll see. I finally fiddled with Legacy TM2 Megs-- It's not perfect but I confidently trust HasTak with anything they put out at this point.

Agreed. A retail titan I can skip. And honestly, I’d rather have a character with a more interesting alt mode as a haslab.

Iirc it wasn't even that Ben said that there would be no more Victory in HasLab but just that the next one wouldn't be. So it is entirely possible they could do a HasLab Liokaiser after one or two more HasLabs from other continuities. They don't have to crank out all of Victory in a few years, they can certainly take their time to get them right.

I’d rather they “press while the iron is hot,” and keep this Victory train going!
    But that’s just me. :p :)

I can understand why Hasbro would be hesitant to do at least 3 TF HasLabs from Victory. Remember when CHUG was essentially all G1 for a few years? Now imagine that the biggest release of the year has been from an obscure Japanese anime that never aired anywhere else for 3 years in a row. People would start getting pissed and when the project heavily relies on people being excited for it, the last thing you want is for your crowdfunded project to annoy potential backers.

    That’s a decent point, actually.

Well, it’ll be exciting to see what’s in store.

And like you said, if we gotta wait a couple years for another Victory HasLab, so be it.
I’ve been collecting this stuff since 1984. I ain’t gonna stop now. :D
I never thought I’d be getting a Deathsaurus ever, let alone one as cool as this will be!

The source on that rumor was highly questionable.
