You should look into DLP ones. (M)SLA is good, but DLP is competing with or even besting 8K MSLA models at under 3% of the pixel count (1280x720 vs 7680x4320). They also print faster (even compared to the mono screen variants), have a longer life expectancy, and use less power.

Industrial DLP printers have been around for a while but we're starting to see them in the home space due to the likes of the Anycubic Photon D2 (others have been announced but I can't find availability).

I kept wondering where the hell this “Scorn” name came from, because it wasn’t a character with whom I was familiar. Then I finally looked it up and realized why. Ugh.

Regardless of the name, the sixth member has the most awkward alt mode, in my opinion. It looks more like an Allicon than a dinosaur. The others have respectable alts, though— I think the stegosaurus in particular looks good. I don’t understand where “Sludge’s” neck/head and tail go in robot mode, though. If they become backpack, it must be pretty compact (or do they contribute to the shoulder cannons?).

I’m still not enthused about the Gundam/Zoids mashup, but decent head sculpts would help. The faces on these guys are generic as hell.

FT's Maverick in bot mode, has the entire length of the plane collapsed into itself and split at points, and stored on his back (a nearly 50cm jet stored in a 24cm bot, it's insane). I would imagine CT will do something similar.

I dunno… Cang’s animal-to-robot transformations are usually very simplistic, they don’t really have a track record of innovative or imaginative ways of getting from one mode to the other (Kinglion was essentially, stand the lion up on his hind legs; Thorilla was just the robot mode spun around).

Sometimes they do clever stuff in getting to combined mode (like Thorilla’s hip slide), but I’m not expecting anything approaching FT engineering from these figures.

Although I’m willing to be pleasantly surprised!

    Another example then :p

GP's Sludge has also a neck that can collapse into itself. Just saying that there are a lot of options. Let's all be surprised when he comes out!

I guess what worried me in this case was the concept art, which shows the neck and tail parts-forming onto the arms as… weapons? Whatever they were supposed to represent, I didn’t like the idea, and I was initially pleasantly surprised to see them absent from the grey prototypes. But now I’m suspecting that those pieces were just left out of the image of the robot, are indeed separate, and parts-form into the arms as per the concept art. That would kill my interest in “Sludge”, who was my favorite G1 Dinobot toy and might possibly be my only purchase from this Cang set.

Exact opposite here. I was incredibly disappointed at the lack of the arm and tail on the prototype from the bot mode concepts. I really liked how it looked like he was manning a power loader from Aliens...it seemed unique and interesting.

Sludge is also my least favorite dinobot for a multitude of reasons, so something that sparked any interest in him at all from me is sorely missed.

However, I'm with you on waiting and seeing if I even pick up a single one of these. Snarl and Grimlock are my favorites and they still look "meh" to me. I'm just not sold on these and, as previously stated, am running out of space for giant MP scaled bots.

Still pulling for that legends version. That would be much easier for me to justify.

i had the same thoughts. Didn’t like them just dangling down the side in robot mode, and a bit relieved to see them gone on the protos. Hadn’t thought That they just might have left them off for now. The only way I might be ok with them as first shown is if they can articulate in a way that they can be used as extra limbs (Doc Oc tentacles). That might be acceptable. If they Just hang there, then that’s absolutely a no-go for me. I’d still likely pick up some of the others, since I’m not interested in the combining aspect.

I’m personally a bit disappointed with Grimlock’s alt head. I don’t expect it to be faithful to a T-Rex, but this one isn’t really appealing to me, where most of the other alt heads are. I like Scorn’s.

That would be ideal since they're clearly hammering this team out before preorders start.

Preorders are already available at ShowZ, when they were announced.

Pretty sure ShowZ throws up preorders on their own, i.e. with no info, price, or product for them to lock in. I don't know how they deal with canceled preorders since it was only a buck and might cost more to undo. It's a gamble but to my knowledge it's never failed them.

Indeed, because I placed my preorders for this set the moment they were announced. I do that most of the time and haven't gotten any issues so far.
