You’re gonna have to look through some interviews with Brian Flynn. He doesn’t say much about it but skirts around some details. People looked into Silverhawks LLC right away and Brian Flynn was listed as owner. Still should be the same under Supernova. He probably still licenses Hawks toys from WB same way he does Thundercats. Nacelle was lined up for the new animated series but it was said in one of the interviews the real owners of Silverhawks didn’t like them so the project was canceled.

A lot of the new info comes from here. He mentions at one point about them never responding for where he needed to send the royalties from toy sales. People were bummed they were only going to do the 2 figs but now reading between the lines, he’s going to continue producing under the new name. Lots of great info in that interview.

The Blue Beetle movie is a Warner Brothers production and the primary star is Xolo Maridueña, playing the Jamie Reyes version of the character.

That New York guy you're talking about is applying for the Blue Beetle trademark; he has not fully registered it. Even if he had, it wouldn't matter. People think of trademarks as being strong "I win" buttons, like copyrights -- they can be, given enough time and investment -- but 99.9% of all the registered trademarks on the US registry are weak like tissue paper and are not worth the money it cost to register them. WB already has multi-regional common law rights to the Blue Beetle mark, because they've already used the mark in commerce (that's usually all that matters with trademarks -- you use it first, you win). Whether they have the federal registration or not, they can oppose the application or apply for it themselves if they want to. Or they can just completely ignore it, if they don't think it's a name that can be meaningfully trademarked. If this Tan guy files a lawsuit, WB would crush him. There are no trademark police. If you have a trademark, the only way to enforce it is to sue, and that costs hundreds of thousands of dollars, win or lose. That's why I say most trademarks are junk, because they are not valuable enough to pay for their own defense and enforcement.

Comics going into public domain is a copyright issue, which trademark law makes somewhat irrelevant. For example, when the first appearance of Superman in Action Comics falls into public domain, you'll be able to scan that comic and publish it online for free, but you won't be able to sell it without changing the title on the cover, because DC(WB) will still control the trademarks for "Action Comics" and "Superman" as long as they continue to use them in commerce.

There is a case law at the Supreme Court level saying that an expired copyright trumps trademark protection (because trademarks would render the public domain meaningless) but you'd have to litigate it back up there and hope they don't reverse themselves.

The Steelheart's eyes looks far apart from each other, similar to Super7 Classics Club Grayskull She Ra's eyes, also looks far apart from each other.

I don't hate them and I understand why they went with the coloring they did but that doesn't stop me from wishing that they were shinier.

Look at all the repaints they do. It's out of necessity, because tooling is so expensive. Do you really think this paint scheme for the Silverhawks is the only one they have planned?

Seems like the Super7 Silverhawks figure is actually bigger size than the Ramen Toys Quciksilver.

Super7 sent an email with a bunch of Ultimates updates. Wave 2 will now ship before Wave 1. That seems really weird to me, was there mention of a fix on a Wave 1 figure?

    • Wave 1 (Armored Mon*Star, Quicksilver, Buzz-Saw, Steelheart) - Leaving the factory in March and shipping to customers in late-April.
    • Wave 2 (Bluegrass, Mon*Star Pre-Transformation, Steelwill, Windhammer, Mon*Star's Throne) - In production and leaving the factory soon. Shipping to customers in late-February. (It has jumped ahead of Wave 1)
    • Wave 3 (Commander Stargazer, Hotwing, Mumbo Jumbo, Mo-Lec-U-Lar) - In tooling at the factory. Leaving the factory late-July and shipping to customers mid-September.

Brian stated that they are really struggling with the joint “discs” for wave 1. Getting them to just the right tolerance with the special paint deco has been really tough. Wave 2 came out better, took advantage of lessons learned with wave 1, and will be ready to ship sooner. Although for a completely different cause, this is like Thundercats wave 3 coming before wave 2.

That being said, wave 1 is now delayed till after Chinese New Year, so I highly doubt we’ll see them in late April. Another 2+ year dev cycle, ugh.
