Due to a lack of shelf space, I held off on actually opening my set since it came in last week. Still, I couldn't help myself since it was my first time handling the FH God Bomber mold. So far I'm really impressed with the engineering on this guy, especially the novelty of the splitting head. These colors rock, giving major super robot vibes:



The only issue I have so far - is the ab crunch super floppy for anyone else? It's weird that this figure has so many nice tight ratchets, but the ab crunch is just on a standard hinge, and a very loose one at that. It's a bit of a disappointment since it makes it hard to get him to stand in some poses. Still, I can live with it.

 

I was gonna do a post - but you've just said everything I was going to! Literally. I shared some wonder in the cool split-head transformation.
And yeah, the ab-crunch is floppy. I'm gonna see about fixing that.
He's considerably bigger than I expected, too!

 

Heh, yeah, I think part of it is he's such a massive bot that he's not often pictured with other figures for a good frame of reference. So I'm guessing people don't realize the core bot is already MP-10 size, so once you throw all that armor on, he's a beefy dude.

 

Anyone still need this guy? Willing to cut a deal on my mine on my if your interested. Only transformed to get into big mode and back.

 

I'm annoyed to see this is quite a bit cheaper now with TCP's Cyber Monday sale. I mean, you can't know. But it's kinda a kick in the teeth on an exclusive.

I try to tell myself "You thought it was worth paying $XXX for in the first place." Can't know, beyond that, sometimes.
I also try not to watch out for stuff I've already bought, to limit the pain.

 

When Fans Hobby released the Fireguts giftset (this time last year) they reverently based the front of box design on the original giftset. It was a respectful homage to its predecessor in every aspect. The Delta exclusive giftset's colour scheme has a style based squarely on a Diaclone reference.

Are there any Diaclone historians able to confirm if the back-of-box layout is a homage to original Diaclone packaging?

Delta Baser does look amazing - and yes, I also don't think he got enough fanfare and glory in the months following his release. I've pitched my idea of a 2-tone green villain PowerBaser + God Armour to Fans Hobby recently. Hoping it gets traction at some point. Using Fireguts as your starting point, I suggested dark green in place of red and light green in place of orange. Wish I had some skill in Photoshop so I could do a mock-up of my vision.

 

I haven't found a direct look at the back of the box, but I think this would be good enough to compare, pic by Maz here Transformers Square One: Diaclone "Powered Convoy" (tfsquareone.blogspot.com). There is also a box set of Powered Convoy with Deep Cover and red Mirage, but I couldn't find the back of it.

 

The green would be SG Prime/Ginrai answer to regular Ginrai's Fireguts!!!
