I'm not a Magic Square guy, but I also must say they pretty much nailed the bot mode proportions. Jet mode not so much. Still going for NA though.

looks much better in colour, but the proportions look off to me. face looks okay, but why such a big bulbous helmet surround? torso looks too short and squat, while the legs too long and lanky in comparison.

NA alt mode hands down. but i do like the MS alt masked head and gerwalk mode. might still pick this up to check out if price is low enough.

Yeah that’s a doofy head, makes the chest feel too small. Don’t love how the wings hang off him either, too visible. Overall, just a bit clunky and off. I’m open to different interpretations, but there’s an overall sensibility that’s lacking on this one.

that said, he’s about the size I wish NA had made theirs….

    Looks too wide to me.

I'm not sure about this one at all.

Honesty I do laugh at all the not-picking. And I think people complaining about his head are mostly comparing it to figures whose heads are too small. He looks amazing to me, and totally in proportion vs. the rest of Magic Square’s figures.

    Can’t wait to get him!!!

Nah, his head is too big; I see it too. NA's is only a touch bit smaller proportionally to the body and it looks much better.

But the rest of the figure is very well done. Smaller head and a touch shorter, and I'd be all over this.

Too small versus what though? If you compare him to that G1 drawing or even the G1 toon, it seems ok. But then I'm an MS collector so i'm bound to have some bias :)

I often get the feeling that robot fans have no idea how big heads on "heroic" body types are supposed to be.

I compared to NA in my post as an example. But also just things with heads on them in general. Even the cartoon feels that bit smaller like NA has. And with the body being wider as well, it's too big. People are seeing it.

I love a lot of MS' style. And if they hadn't pushed into "almost legends+" territory, I'd like them all the more (ironic that their Skyfire is shorter than NA). I really want to like this figure because it has a lot going for it. Glad it has a following though, if only to keep NA on their overpriced toes.

In their defense, Magic Square never pushed into legends+. From day one, Grapple and Inferno, they've followed their own scale, which is slightly larger than NA. I'd consider MFT more legends+.

Ironically, I'm seeing NA latest releases push closer to MS' scale. Their Grimlock, Jetfire, Arcee, Grapple and Inferno are all larger than their usual scale, some now even surpassing MS. Which is all a bit odd.

The proportions look fine, but I really dislike the look of the chest vents. They look much more accurate on the Newage version.

Which is why I say almost. But they've definitely shifted.

MFT is the pretty much the definition of legends+ and basically where the fandom coined the term from. But for Magic Square, all I need to do is point to MS Blaster as an example of where they WERE versus where they ARE. If MS redid Grapple and Inferno today, they'd be taller. Not MFT tall, but taller than NA's current releases.

Yeah. NA and their larger bots were always going 'too big' after they had established their carbot sizes. And like your examples, lately they've pushed even further. I really wish they would have stayed smaller, but they did what they did.

edit: on the note of MS Grapple/Inferno, I'm really hoping the NA Grapple release puts a few old Grapples on sale. I have the Inferno and would love to pick the other one up (and not the new ones with the blue windows--just so they match better).

edit2: bit of a confession; MS' carbots always felt like they were 'too big' compared to the other bots they were making. I think that's what forced their adjustment, instead of going the other way around. NA, I don't know if they're trying to get closer to the "plus" market without hitting it, or what.

I like what this looks like. Proportions look good to me and even the "big" head looks accurate to the toon since the toon's model had a big head and stubby legs. If anything, the proportions on the MS Skyfire looks more heroic (including the head) and better proportioned than the toon model. In the comparison pics with other Skyfires, they all look like they have small heads to me. The jet does look slim relative to the toon model and I still think Newage nailed toon accuracy better, but I like this! This seems more... cool and may have better preferences for my tastes.

I dig him. I like the height too.

Head does look a little big to me, but he’s basically wearing a helmet so maybe it should be bigger like that. At least that’s what I’m telling myself.

Since I’m getting the EX version of NA Jetfire, I probably should have held off on the NA toon version and gotten this instead.

I might still get if cheap.

Not every. They have done a few standard ABS figures including the recent shockwave recolour

Yeah there’s often some really weird takes on proportions on these boards. I remember when some vocal members insisted that MP36 Megatron looked “skinny”. MF is built like a friggin bodybuilder with huge ass shoulders.

On-topic, this dude looks fantastic. Love the robot mode size and proportions. Head sculpt is solid too. Vehicle mode is a little off but the ability to do that gerwalk properly makes up for it a bit.

If you guys don't think the proportions are weird on Skyfire, do you feel like Prime has a small head? Cause Skyfire's is much bigger proportionally, even if it matches human sizes.
