Hell, I don't get the reason why everything needs to be as expensive as it does outside of "Oops, we need more money, how can we make it?"

At this point I think the next movie is projected to never exist.

I'm wondering if D&D and Transformers will still be considered 'priority' once their hot new films come out and perform in a similar manner to Snake Eyes.

I’d say D&D is more likely to fail. At least transformers has some hype given an established movie franchise.

Umm...you just described the very basis of consumerism.

If only there was a way, free from consumerism, to obsessively buy mass-produced useless plastic products for a brand we loved as children because of loosened marketing regulations.

I have a hunch that D&D will be a solid performer. Not a blockbuster, but enough of a crossover success to warrant further franchise development. It's looking to be a D&D movie that a D&D fan won't hate, but also that they can take their partner too without them being bored and disengaged the whole time.

Ok, agreed. Just confusing sometimes when people use a question mark when they are not asking a question.

It's a heavily mannered attempt to add rhetorical inflection? But yes, it's also very confusing, so no judgement.

I'm glad to see the fail: Hasbro has grown too arrogant.

They shoot up prices on figs, but continue their garbage build-a-figure BS with the WORST Marvel characters, as they desperately scrape the bottom of that barrel and release 10 more Iron Man's! :rolleyes2

I mention Marvel as a BLUEPRINT. For how they can ruin other lines.

Sort of how they copied the G.I. Joe plan to up prices (with the TF franchise): add a bunch of extra kibble (guns) and charge more!

"Guns raise value! Add guns, raise prices! What could go wrong? Surely, this plan won't hurt TFs like it did G.I. Joe! Surely!"

The problem I'm seeing at toy stores: the good characters are made in short supply, and the garbage "variety" characters shelfwarm and prevent reorders. Hasbro does a pisspoor job of supplying the correct assortments (i.e. figures in demand), and are still playing REACTION rather than Market-Researched-PREDICTION.

A real example was the TF team admitting that they, too, could not find a retail Cosmos recently.... I mean, because it would be impossible for Hasbro to predict the popularity there. :rolleyes2

Another example: Arcee. She is not selling well. The KH version. Why release another one (SS86), so soon? I know! To prevent sales and hurt the company!

"I swear, I'm, like, totally a different figure!"

I do hope they FINALLY see sales consequence. They could do such a better job, but literally no one cares about the distribution problems. At all.

I want to thank you, for the line of "The worst part is a friend of my friend at Hasbro put a proposal for purchasing eOne back around 6 years ago that was shot down.", as it produced in my mind the ideology of suburban business computation

There is no way that the very specific product selection and distribution problems you're describing have any tangible effect on Hasbro's bottom line. The value of these kinds of news posts is they cover industry and link out to industry analyses. For example, when Target reported slowing sales for toys, that affected Hasbro and Mattel's stock. That wouldn't be related at all to the idea that specific retailer-exclusive figures in one product line in an assortment sell out too fast.

For the same reason, the companies are going to be focused on the big strategic stuff to improve their place in the market rather than directing staff to improve financials by making better character selections in the collector-oriented lines. That's not to say that they won't change, but it'll effectively be coincidental.

At any rate, most posters here aren't actually interested in industry-wide trends or what corporate decision makers actually do, they just want to complain about some specific issue with the Transformers line. But this is a Transformers fan forum, so go off.
