I believe they did so to keep a now discontinued, due to lack of sufficient support, product in existence?

Meanwhile, a vocal minority of Magic players are gatekeeping and MELTING DOWN because our TF cards are "polluting" their wizards and warriors card game. (Ugh...)

Many, many venues sell individual cards (singles) for varying prices based on a shared market "value." Theres an entire website with thousands of sellers "TCGPlayer", CardKingdom, and more (from individuals people and as large as dedicated gaming/comic store).

Look up the cards on those sites, find a seller with good ratings, buy cards, wait for mail, enjoy!

The probability rates of pulling a TF card in specific Magic packs was posted (broadly) in this thread upthread and on Wizards of the Coast product pages prior to release (Nov 11 weekend.)

Foil Shattered Glass variants are going to be the most rare (and expensive.) Like, hundreds of dollars for all 14 expensive. If you want foil.

Huh? The Magic crossover Transformers cards have zero relation to the now-defunct TF TCG. The only thing the have in common is the characters represented. Otherwise, it's like comparing an Earthrise Optimus Prime with ... a Transformers comic book from Marvel.

Big difference - one sold much better with a significantly larger audience to potentially purchase. I am a very niche collector & 95% of the stuff does not interest me. I am excited they are trying to keep multiple groups into their current purchase cycle vs. lose them. You can't appease each fan every time. But, you DO have to appease each fan within 1-5 years or you lose them.

I'm still not following and the context here is lost. Are you criticizing Wizards of the Coast for including 15 (+14) promotional crossover cards into an unrelated IP or are you criticizing Hasbro for it?

The cards are there. If you like them, cool. If you don't, also cool.

As for "losing" anyone, attrition is a normal, expected, planned for part of any product life cycle. If it's time for you to shift interest elsewhere, go for it. They're not at a loss for additional consumers in the market.

I just want a TF card game, maybe better if it was digital.... I Would love a crossover with Marvel Snap.

This magic stuff and it's outrageous rarity issues are not appreciated.

I think in a physical card game it's not important for the card to Transform... Just that it represent our favorite characters.

    We had one. It failed.

The cards were great; the gameplay wasn't fun. You were limited to using few characters and the gameplay was little more that gimmicks that made the game feel like a fighting game with cards. The scope was FAR too narrow, the balancing issues were criminal for a card game released in this decade, and the publishing of exclusive promotional cards with unique attributes in places like a 1 time Loot Crate was not good.

Worse, the competitive element of the gameplay ended up basically exploiting 2 of the rarest cards and either playing them, or playing to (somehow) counter them. You were hard capped on the number of characters you could include and the game was about actively removing those few characters from play as swiftly and aggressively as possible.Which is why the game failed to catch on despite availability and volume of releases.

The Magic rules set allows the player to enjoy the characters in a fulfilling way. It could really use an entire expansion or more. If WotC were to add more Transformers in a unique themed set (like they're doing with Lord of The Rings), even if they made it incompatible with the rest of the Magic deckbuilding rules, they could still provide a more robust and fulfilling experience than the TF CCG provided.

Magic allows the player to build and develop resources as a foundation for playing cards that affect the game board. This includes the ability to build up to characters to play as turns go by and the ability to place multiples in play at the same time. And when those game pieces are removed from play through various game actions, the game still continues. You get more gameplay value out of the Magic rules system than the TF CCG provided.

As for "rarity", that's been baked into every CCG/TCG since 1993. The only way around that is products like Renegade Studio's current Transformers Deckbuilding game. Which is also exponentially more enjoyable that the TF CCG.

    I reject this.

Even when we had the Transformers TCG, which I prefer... The rarity ratios were outrageous. Here if they were serious about having Transformers crossover why not create a deck, so at least if you wanted to sample Transformers flavored magic cards you 100% could.... How about some transformer themed lands... And maybe alt art interrupts.

Also debatable whether Magic is more fun. The Transformers TCG certainly had balance issues and strange resolutions, but I think it's strength was letting you play with the characters you wanted.

I think the Transformers TCG should have had crossovers like Gijoe, it was well setup for vehicles and drivers.

I don't think themed decks would have done much better. The Warhammer decks are $70 at retail because they are all new cards or the reprints have Warhammer art. I would have preferred non-transforming cards and got an entire deck as well.Unfortunately considering the reception from the mtg community I don't see us getting more Transformers for a while. Transformers fans don't seem to be into these either judging by this thread and the subreddit. Which, if these are meant to attract new people, is a huge whiff.

Never judge consumer reception by social media commentary. I and my friends who are excited for and quick to collect the cards do not post on Reddit. Of us, only I post on TFW2005. Magic has seen social media toxicity going back to pre-social media (forums, newsgroups). The prevailing sentiments rarely match sales metrics that present a very different opinion.
Who knows in this case? If it adds new or returning Magic consumers and/or adds to sales of CHUG and/or Shattered Glass units, that's the success metric.

That said, I don't anticipate more outside of a special side/supplemental product due to the design of the cards and how they work. The current design mechanics make them very complicated to create more. Creating an entire supplemental product (decks like 40K) or set would require creating even more cards with 2 faces which become fiddly in gameplay because of the "stand in" cards required for the gameplay deck. Many enfranchised consumers use opaque card sleeves instead, but the product would be intended to appeal to new players like 40K did.

Creating more would also be parasitic on the Magic gameplay system. They may not be problematic in the small 15 card volume, but adding more...? As much as I'd love that to replace the TF CCG, I just can see a path using the current MtG design. Plus, Shattered Glass is a very deliberate component of this x-over. How to represent that?

I pulled 14/15 (missing Ratchet) and also pulled an additional 3 Shattered Glass that I'll be quick to find new homes for. I'm happy.

Well on TCGPlayer the normal versions aren't too expensive with the most being Megatron at $5. Now their "Shattered Glass" versions are going for a alot more pricier in the $20+ range.

I'd love for a ccg like the old Decipher Star Wars ccg, where you battled each other with characters, etc. Have alt modes be separate cards that worked like the vehicles from that game.

They'll probably go down in price quick too considering the set isn't officially released. Relief for me. I want all of them

Cheaper most places already than there....those are nearly the highest prices I've seen on ccg singles sadly & I'm in the Boston Area.

Check ebay - they have been dropping like stones for a week now.

Anyone know if the token cards are also dual-sided? I only ever see one graphic for Ravage/Laserbeak.

I WILL say - the shattered glass foils.... expect them to be like a Haslab or worse in price in some cases. Unless money is no object in your life, regulars are ok ^^

Doesn't help that BoA lowered Hasbro's rating over their handling of the 30th anniversary.

Luckily for me I prefer the regulars for the most part. The design for each card seems mostly based on G1 from a character standpoint. Doesn't make sense to me for SG Prime to buff his allies.
