I’ve been man handling the absolute heck out of mine and I’ve had Zero issues with the plastic so far. The shoulder ratchets got slightly worn the first day but haven’t gotten any worse since. And they still hold poses and click into place very well. I think the only real issue mine had was the loose ankles, but that’s such an easy fix that only takes a few minutes to actually adjust, I don’t see it as a real issue. The light weight makes it very easy to stand up and simply mess with. Plus I Love the fact that it isn’t painted or coated with a gloss finish. I know people really like their MP style figures to be painted, but personally I want to be able to handle my super articulated prime without any fear of ruining the look. The matte also makes it look more like that cartoon style it’s going for. He’s taken a pretty large shelf dive already (can’t leave anything out with cats around) and came out unschathed. While the plastic is physically thin, I think it’s a lot stronger than people are giving it credit for. It’s not as flexible as their legends plastic, but it’s in no way brittle. I think he’s gonna last a fairly long time. 5AF9E0BF-51E8-4A91-ACB8-A521FB7B055F.jpeg 87248E4E-38C5-4297-8F4A-E36CB64325AC.jpeg 9D62234E-2BF7-42E3-A4B1-CA41BAFC674A.jpeg D5D6131F-F116-43B1-9A5A-0500A26348B1.jpeg

I got mine today and I'm a bit disappointed.

I thought this would replace my MP-44 but it just feels way to cheap in my hands. I still think it looks like and MP style figure but it doesn't feel like a collectors piece

Those stupid tabs near his face were bothering me so I took the head apart, cut them off and put back together. Much better now IMO. Just need to get my replacement stack and I will be good to go.

Sorry, I can be a bit dense at times. I was shocked because I thought that MS had straight up KO'd MP-44's head sculpt based on my misunderstanding of your pics. I have MP-44 and I can say, at the least, that the two sculpts are VERY close. But it's really a compliment to both figures because I consider the MP-44 head (not the Season 1 head, there's something about that one that I absolutely hate- probably the shape of the eyes) to be the best Prime head ever made.

This is interesting. I know someone here got a battle damaged face sculpt with theirs before. But battle damaged parts have to be 100% coming down the line. These parts just friction fit. The sides of the torso even have little tabs to lift them up from like the panels on the arms. AE2C6E7B-CA74-4CA1-BDEE-4CE7E7F6DD0B.jpeg 96DD472B-BF9B-4353-94CF-F37FFC0569E5.jpeg

Yep, Dunkle noted it as well: Magic Square MS-02 Light Of Peace (MP Scale Optimus Prime 2.0)

I'm guessing the accessory pack will include the side damage, head sculpt (which we've already seen, seriously how did one person get that?), Starscream disguise parts, jetpack, metal-painted-light-up matrix (it's the only reason why I would think they would cheap out so bad on the matrix that comes with this guy), damaged chest window (someone else noted they can pop out fairly easy if you want to remove them), and probably some blast effects. Toss in a basketball for good measure too :D . Most of those things (minus the basketball, damaged windows, and metal matrix) came with the legends version of the figure.

Longshot theory is they'll do a trailer and include these things with it.

A few other posters have noted that the thighs are friction attached and can pull apart easily. I'm willing to also guess they're planning on a Ultra Magnus armor set as well for the inevitable repaint, and the ease those leg panels come apart will play into it.

You can probably use the set from MS01.

Actually, I'm gonna go try find the box for mine and see if it works !!

Ok, can confirm the battle damage set from MS01 does not fit.

One could basically trim it back and make it fit if you really wanted to. But as vanilla, does not fit. The posts are a different size.

I’m one of those people who generally dislikes accessories, so I applaud the choice that MS made in keeping this Prime pretty basic. I would prefer that accessories beyond the primary weapon be offered separately with all MP-style figures. I’ve never wanted the trailer, energy axe, damaged parts, jet pack, etc. and don’t otherwise want “expression faces”, blaster effects, alien masks, campfires, aprons, etc. sometimes offered with other characters. I’d rather keep the price down and pay for that superfluous stuff only if I want it, because most of the time I don’t.

Honestly, I never understood the appeal if MP-44's glossy "wet paint" finish. Like, in the toon, TFs were depicted either as matte or as metallic depending on the episode and scene. And as such, 3P companies typically go for one of those two options. But Takara for some reason seems to favor a glossy look lately, and I'm not really sure why. What's it supposed to represent? If they want a shiny, "premium" look, why not go with metallic?

Oddly they did go with metallic one time, with Tracks, which funnily enough ended up being one of their least well-regarded MP molds.

I don't mind paint on figures but, and I think I've said this before, if you can get away without doing paint then that's a win IMO because then you don't have to deal with scratches or color rubbing off ,etc.
