Yeah, thanks for the date on the annual. It's been driving me crazy wondering if this thing would ever be finished or not.

It's taking so long because the artist is under an exclusive contract, so they can't just finish it with another artist despite how long it's taking him. And when we get it based on his previous work the art won't have been worth the wait. Besides we basically know what happens anyway.

You know, after all this time, I completely forgot about it? I'm enjoying the current Gary Frank run anyway.

Really? I can't stand his work. I'm only reading Action for the Legion arc, and it's really annoying me how Frank is making all of the women look like crazy emaciated crackwhores. His men are better (although I don't like redoing Superman to look like Christopher Reeve), but everything is just so overly rendered it doesn't look very good. I'm also not a fan of his costume designs, especially the changes to Wildfire and Dawnstar's classic looks.

Y'know, with a Superman story arc co-written by Donner, you'd think it might have made more sense to have a guy who draws Superman to look like Reeve work on THAT one...

It's even more ridiculous when you realize even All Star Batman And Robin had a few issues come out in between chapters of this story.

Who got it? I thought it was pretty cool.

    Spoilers:

First of all I thought this had the best art out of the whole storyline. The cityscapes are simply amazing as well as the aerial views of the characters. I like Superman and Lex's confrontation and Lex's reasoning as to why humanity will embrace him. Non vs. Bizarro could have had some more scenes. Metallo and Parasite torturing the Kryptonians was funny, especially the Gold Kryptonite scene. Lex finally got to kill a Kryptonian, yay! The scene where Supes socks the sh*t out of Zod was so badass. In the end Chris Kent sacrifices himself for the city, locking up the Phantom zone, and Clark and Lois are now child-less. But Chris is presumably roaming somewhere in the zone still... The Stephane Roux drawn character profiles after the issue were fantastic.

    End spoilers.

Yes Chris is missing at the end of the arc, but he's still in the current comics. So we are missing a story somewhere

I'm thinking the Busiek run was before this issue continuity-wise, since they mention Chris meeting Robin, and Busiek told that story.

It likely is, though the problem is that in one of the Last Son chapters, Chris asks who Batman is, and Lois says that Batman is someone that Chris won't be allowed to meet until he's 18.

My guess is that they'll edit the dialogue in the hardcover edition to reflect current continuity, similiar to what they did in the Infinite Crisis hardcover.
