One of the early things they learned from unicron was give people a warning for anything crazy expensive. Everything over $300 they've been giving warnings and clues up to 6 months early.

When will we see non-Pulse preorders reflected in the tally? I’d wager the actual preorder is much higher once we factor in Asian markets

Has the HasLab even opened for those markets yet? Usually that seems to be a later step.

If it's like VS they'll add some right before they do an update.

Going by the VS campaign trends probably around 2 weeks in. That doesn't necessarily mean they are just the Asian markets though. With VS the TTMall orders didn't open until the last day even though it was planned for them to open much earlier.

Retailers are not able to take pre-orders for current Haslabs anymore. So like BBTS, Chosen Prime, etc. cannot open up pre-orders for the haslabs which means customers can't use them to order early on a payment plan. That means the stores ONLY order whatever they think they can sell, not however many they have already sold to people plus some additional to sell. So the numbers coming from them will be much lower than previously thought.

Most crowdfunding orders are also near the beginning and the end with not a lot in the middle. And in a case like this where you have orders being taken through other platforms and a likely Japanese audience in the thousands, like you say, there's a spike when those numbers get added.

The biggest thing that could hurt this is that damaged VS shipment but we don't really know how many people that effected. Could be just a hundred or so! But those people might not back again either die to fear of a repeat or not having a VS to go with this.

I think it would definitely help Deathsaurus' numbers if Hasbro had a simultaneous campaign for a VS reissue at the same time in slightly modified colors since you'd have the ability to get a set. But they'd probably face a lot of backlash for that too.

I think Hasbro probably sold as many Ghostbusters neutrona wands from the revised run that accompanied the Proton Pack Haslab as they did the original run.

Likewise, with Armada Prime coming in 2023, my hunch is that we'll get Armada Jetfire down the road and they'll reissue Armada Prime when that happens.

Some things just go in sets really well and you run the risk of not selling the new thing if the old thing isn't easily attainable.

I bet, for example, that you could sell a ton of Cybertron Primus reissues alongside an Armada/Platinum Unicron reissue but probably not that many without one.

Haslabs just weren't built for the need to reissue things sometimes to sell something else.

The irony being that smaller companies use Kickstarters to take items to retail all the time. But this conflicts with how Hasbro markets Haslab.

Among other things, smaller companies tend to sell their crowdfunded items close to cost to get the production run quantity up high and then charge more at retail afterwards. This generally makes backers happy as they get a discount over retail.

The Roboskull is a great example. It's still under $250 on backerkit and you could get one even cheaper during the campaign but a vehicle that size with that many accessories will probably retail for over $300 next year. It's pretty comparable to the HISS Tank and includes a lot of extras.

But Hasbro is essentially already charging retail price and then some for Haslabs so there's probably less of a chance they could get away with continuing to offer Haslab items at a higher price later.

I think this really hurts Deathsaurus though because VS and Deathsaurus are kind of a set.

It's also fairly likely that those retailers are limited to 5 units on Haslabs and pay retail price whereas my impression is that, before, they had a channel to order more at a discount.

Hmm...how much do you think they're going to wait before the Japanese preorders/pledges start?

At the time, my credit was in the shitter... I didn't have one. Now, I've since managed to fix my credit and am in a decent place financially. But back then, it just wouldn't have happened.

I wish those places could work out a bulk deal with hasbro, basically they order x amount (even if they don’t have that many actual orders) so the other sellers could charge a lower price; which may mean more people buy.

I wouldn't doubt that is happening right now just the X isn't a small amount and the bulk rate still wouldn't be anywhere near where the wholesale price would be.

Going to be interesting to see how the chart goes. It's off to a great start but I suspect that's because a lot of Star Saber backers jumped on this right away. Basically in for a penny in for a pound mind set. Also *it seems* like they've let Asian markets orders open sooner. I'm assuming it's due to the time of year basically they want everyone's money now before the holiday season.

My guess is that it'll peak sooner and slightly lower the Saber and then flatten out. It'll hit all it's marks though so I'm not really worried.
