I have to disagree about the transformations, they are actually pretty simple, there isn't too much in the way of "tricks" that you see in most MP transformations. You have to be careful to a degree but nothing different then most MPs

I'll defer. Not having the toys, myself, my comments were based on the semi-frequent responses of something breaking because something was done out of order.

(That said, my comparison is decidedly NOT against other MPs, which I think are usually far too complex, but against the G1 toys)

I wouldn't have minded an HO scaled Raiden with modern retail engineering. Though... I'm not sure how that'd translate in terms of combiner stability.

    YouTube (Legacy):
Do we have to use the word “slavish”? It’s got a very negative connotation. Just because something is highly accurate to source material doesn’t mean it’s a bad thing.

Does it even apply to this set. They're fairly accurate but they embraced the kibble and added an almost samurai-armor twist to them.

Slavish to me now is this allergy to kibble or backpacks. Dont get me wrong I like clean and tidy, but its getting to a point where such an emphasis is put on that, that its making for some pretty bland figures. The moon studio set is much cleaner, but its to the point where they really don't have any personality, because the focus is on " clean".

I’m guilty of this for sure but I think the original definition of slavish meaning ‘like a slave beholden to the master’s wishes’, or ‘without originality’ is simply used incorrectly.

People, including myself, probably mean ‘lavish’.

Just like the people who would use the word like slave anyways are just as ignorant as those of us who were attempting to use it correctly but were using the wrong word.

    This.

I looked at the alt modes of their trains & I couldn't take another look again.

Those alt modes aside, the face sculpts for the individual Bots as well as the gestalt mode left me wondering if I'm looking at...Raiden.

Based on the 2 points above, I can draw my conclusion that MS version can't even come close to the MPG version in that aspect.

May I add in more here? Sure, here goes...

I'm thankful they named their Bots (Tom, Dick, Harry & more) with their main gestalt called Radiatron. :p :p :p

And don't even get me started on the QC/breakages that came with 'em train lots & just like a certain Boardie worded this sentence on that 3P Radiatron thread, allow me to rephrase my iteration here:

MPG totally destroys Moon Studios offerings.

And lastly, we talk about HO scale for MPG?

No problem for me at all since these Trainbots/Raiden will fit in nicely with my CHUG collection. :thumb :thumb :thumb

Got my Getsui in today. Fortunately no stress markers on the infamous slider joints. I carefully transformed it into bot and leg, then back to train without much difficulty. Until all six trainbots are in my possession it'll stay in alt mode, as it's such an impressively detailed presentation that way.

Got my Getsuei in yesterday. I... I REALLY like him. Knowing about the breakage and how it can happen was useful, but I'm not scared of the transformation and find it really clever and wonderful.

I do think I prefer him over Shouki. He fells more realized and has me excited for the rest of the crew.

Bonus pic of him with Dark Knight! Yes, I liked Getsuei enough he followed me into work today. Dark Knight is my favorite of the moon bots, but wow does it just highlight how good this train mode is (and how much smaller the MPG is). I like both, and while I'd probably argue that Dark Knight has more bang for your buck... I think I like the MPG more.

Wow so cool you found a blog about EF65 1120 mentioning transformers and the MPG! And it seems he doesn't know why 1120 either. Ah well it will forever be a mystery! :)  Sad 1120 is out of service - must have been quite recent as there's videos online up to around a year ago. Hopefully the surge in fan popularity due to the MPG will get 1120 refurbished and put in a museum! Or maybe not :( .

So after seeing all these pics and videos of 1120 I know what everyone's thinking - 'wait a minute the bogies/undercarriage are supposed to be grey, not black - faaaaaaaiiil Kobayashi!!!' Ah, well, that's a good observation, but in fact the grey painted bogies was done as part of inspection/service work by current owner Shimonoseki Yard in 2005. The original paintjob has black bogies, so that's what TT went for!

Similarly, many folk will be looking at these pics and thinking 'why has Getsuei got a thin blue paint app at the top of the front and rear through doors, it's supposed to be just beige - faaaaiiiiil Hasblo!'. Again that's a great observation, but if you look at the overall paintjob you see the thin blue stripe at the top of the door 'belongs' as it matches the line between beige and blue on the rest of the cab. Indeed the thin blue stripe at the top of the door is part of the original paintjob accurately replicated by TT. Unit 1120 has had these doors replaced in recent times and they simply couldn't be bothered to apply the blue on the top of the door - cost cutting ya know.

If I read right, Suiken wont have the JR licensing, because the train existed before it waa a thing. That was the only new information I saw in the newest FK.

Saw a video the other day, about how they service the bullets. Theres actually bikes they ride to get from end to end. Think it was also like 10 devices they created just to service them. One they showed was for when they cleaned the passenger section, it was a device to measure moisture in the seats, so they knew which cushions to flip out and replace between trips.

JR Railways Group came into existence in 1987, 4 years after the 153 series (Suiken's model) was retired from service in 1983.
