Here are all the official voice actors for the movie: Optimus prime: Peter Cullen Optimus primal: Ron perlman Airrazor: Michelle yeoh Mirage: Pete Davidson Nightbird: Michela jai Rodriguez Wheeljack: Cristo Fernandez Stratosphere: John DiMaggio Arcee: Liza koshy Scourge: Peter dinklage Rhinox and battletrap: David sobolov Reek: tobe nwighe (Will edit once more cast members get revealed) Now here's my fan cast: Cheetor: Aaron Paul
Yeah I wouldn’t mind having a regular like him and Reno Wilson in the movie. Frank Welker too. The fact they seem to mostly be going for celebrity voice actors is both cool and infuriating. Cool because this suggests they’re giving the robots enough time and character to get them a celebrity voice actor, like Angela Bassett, John Goodman and Ken Watanabe. Infuriating because it becomes extremely hard to pin down who will voice who, and also of course you want to see regular voice actors in these roles as well, let alone OG cast members. As much as I love Richard Newman and Ian Cornett, I could accept new actors for Cheetor and Rhinox since they’ve already had new actors whether it was Cyberverse or Netflix (I don’t remember Rhinox’s actor being too bad). David Kaye for Beast Wars Megatron, if he shows up, is the one actor I absolutely must have back. I really don’t know the personality they’re going to have for Wheeljack so I can’t pick an actor for him. Arcee, I would love Grey Griffin back since she already was brought “back” for Bumblebee. I say “back” because that movie seemed to distance itself so much from the Bay films that I’m sure the casting director didn’t even know that Grey already voiced ROTF Arcee for her minor role. I’m sure celebrities will be voicing Scourge and Nightbird since they’re the main villains. If we have any cameos from Bay film Transformers, yes I would squee if they got Robert Foxworth, Jess Harnell, Charlie Adler, Darius McCrary, etc as their characters. That would be fanservice for me.
My thoughts and ideas for casting: Maximals: Optimus Primal: Andy Serkis (After OG Gary Chalk, Serkis would have been my second choice. Given his works in LotR, PotA, Tintin, Star Wars, and more, I can picture him voicing Primal. I was surprised that Ron Perlman got the part, considering how I think of him as the Fallout narrator, but I think Perlman has potential.) Rhinox: JK Simmons (This would be something for him to go from Spider-Man's JJ Jameson to Beast Wars' Rhinox, but I believe he could pull off the part.) Airrazor: Lupita Nyong'o (While I think the RotB casting crew made a fantastic choice with Michelle Yeoh, I believe Nyong'o could have been a great first runner-up VA for Airrazor) Cheetor: Zach Levi or Zac Efron (Seeing how they both have that youth, cocky but confident voice to them. I'd be pleased if either of them got to voice BW's lovable feline, but I'd probably prefer Levi over Efron.) Rattrap (if he is even in the film): Bradley Cooper (Basically, he would only have to redo his Rocket Raccoon voice. We all love Rocket's Brooklyn accent so much that it would be a solid match for Rattrap. Plus the movie is going to be partially set in Brooklyn!) Predacons (I know it is currently unknown how big their presence will be in the film, but they are supposed to be the secondary antagonists): Megatron/Galavar: Benedict Cumberbatch (David Kaye will always be Beast Megatron to me, but Cumberbatch would be a marvelous substitute. Anyone who has seen the Hobbit movies will know just how chilling and menacing Cumberbatch sounds as Smaug. I finished watching a behind-the-scenes video of him doing the voice and all I could think was "This is Megatron!") Blackarachnia: Scarlett Johanson (I know some would argue that it would be redundant for ScarJo to voice Legs seeing as she already did Black Widow. But she has that seductive voice that would be perfect for a femme fatale. When I watch that scene from the Jungle Book when Mowgli meets Kaa, I imagine that voice on Blackarachnia; Skarjo going from snake to spider. My other picks would be Zoe Saldana and Awkwafina.) Scorponok: JK Simmons (I'm not concerned with who does Scorponok's voice if anyone for that matter. Though, I feel like Simmons could do both a Maximal and a Predacon.) Mark Hamil: Dinobot, Terrorsaur, and Tarantulas (There are no limits to Hamil's voice acting talents! I am confident he could nail each of these characters while keeping their personalities distinct. I doubt Tarantulas will be in the film, but he could appear in a follow-up film with Hamil onboard. And I've always thought Beast Wars to be like Star Wars, but with animals!) Decepticons (even if they only appear in flashbacks): Starscream: Mark Hamil (Given his voice range, Hamil would only have to do a whiny metallic version of his Joker's voice to do Starscream. I'm surprised he has never voiced Starscream, especially since he was in Power of the Primes.)
Still holding out for Aaron Paul as cheetor. Also Steven caple Jr said that he wants Mahershallah Ali to play a character. I wonder who should he play
Whenever I read Sins of the Wreckers, interestingly, I read Tarantulas with Johansson's voice (and even have Nick Roche's tacit support on that one!)
I haven't read Sins of the Wreckers, but I mostly associate Alec Willow's voice with Tarantulas. Much like how Batman comic book readers will often hear Mark Hamil's voice when reading the Joker's dialogue. On another note, my pick for Rhinox no longer holds up, which is fine because we got OG voice actor David Sobolov! Here's hoping that Depth Charge will be in the follow-up with his original voice!
