Very tempted to get that set! I wouldn't mind the DNA set but to be honest I'm fine with the figure as is and don't really need all the stuff that it "fixes". I wouldn't mind some upgrades but I find him to be fun as is, just a nice toy even if he doesn't quite fit the "Masterpiece" name.

 

I was on a recent trip to Japan and saw this at Yodabashi Camera for 16,940 yen (about $115).

I have zero doubt that next year a retool of this into ROTB Prime will happen.

 

If this is going to happen (and I also think it will) I only hope it won´t take the only annual spot of the MPM Line... It would be sad to only get a retool (a slight retool, actually, cause they look almost the same...) in one entire year!

 

They’ll probably be two MPM’s and it’s be a little more than a slightly retool.

 

If you wish this guy had an axe, use the one from Magic Square Light of Peace (MP 2.0). Holds securely just fine.

 

So I feel like it’s obvious, but I’ll say it anyway, IMO there’s no way they can get a ROTB prime that looks even remotely accurate out of this guy without scrapping most of the transformation. The proportions are completely different. That said, will it stop them from trying? Idk. Hasbro has a long history of just kind of shrugging and saying “close enough” with movie stuff.

Oh 100% they will, I'd be a little shocked if they don't have an MPM ROTB Prime out along with the movie like they did for the VW Bumblebee for his movie. But yeah he will require a fair bit of retooling, and the engineering with probably need to change a little since he has the grill guard now.
