I still love Titanmasters. Can't get enough of 'em! This has led to me decapitate more than a few TFs so that they can be Transtectors for my little guys. Since I had a spare Energon Barricade (I'd used the Bruticus Max head for another project) I decided no heads are better than two, and kapow! After the guillotine action and a little tinkering, the Barricade-mobile was ready to accommodate a Titanmaster -- in this case Overboard. I'm still working on some kind of seating arrangement inside the front cab, since it's got plenty of room and even has transparent windows the driver can see through. Figured I'd fire off a couple of pics real quick, sorry for the crummy lighting. Enjoy!
Thanks! I have a ton of TMs, I really dig 'em, but I'd love to get a bunch of the original faces off of Shapeways so I could develop the ranks more. Especially since I've converted a lot of figures to be Transtectors. Here are several of them:
I'm officially jealous. I only started collecting in 2018, so I never had a chance to get all those figures. You've made them even better! I get that people don't like headmasters because they partsform and such, but the idea of a smaller transformer/human (I personally prefer transformers) taking control of a much larger body, that lacks much of the problems and fatalities of a normal body, just makes them really cool. Brainmasters, power masters, titanmasters, whichever one I love the prospect of.
I'm with you, m'man. Japan's 1987 Headmasters anime handles whatever-masters best, in my opinion, and that's the model I follow for of all my Titanmasters. I'm flattered you say I made the figures better, I'm sure many would disagree. I confess to I feel a certain sense of blasphemy when I decapitate toys -- especially less common ones, like the BotCon Weirdwolf. And hey, as for your relative newness to collecting TFs, the world's your oyster! Talk about a cornucopia of options to choose from!
Think of it like Lego. Who cares if your gonna yeet a starship into the ground if your gonna make a better mech suit out of it? That's how I've slowly come into being comfortable with customizing transformers. Doesn't mean I'm any good at it, but I digress. About the world being my oyster, yeah, I've got options, but at the moment I'm only able to get the new figures from new lines, which, while fun, lack a certain playability of old ones, which is sad because I love fidgeting with my action figures. As a teenage collector, I don't have the income (or family rules) to shop on platforms that would allow me to get older figures easily. Occasionally I'll be lucky, like when I got a rotf durge at goodwill, but otherwise I'm kind of in the dark on all those releases.
Well put. I'm not very good at customizing either -- paint and glue are nearly unbearable for me. Well, as long as you keep in mind that there are much better things to spend your money on, you'll be fine. But in the meantime, keep it conservative and savor each figure/project. Quality over quantity!
Yeah man, this rules. I got pretty good mileage out of Cybertron-era Voyagers. Some of 'em you can just open up, pull the mushroom-peg head out and the Titan Master just drops right in there.
Now I wish I still had Energon Barricade. I love that Titanmaster can fit in the cab. Wish Titans Return Octane could have said the same. I like your other customs. I did the same thing to the orange Star Wars figure though I used a different TM. I also found the socket remaining if you decapitate Transmetal/Armada Rhinox is just right for a Titanmaster.
Absolutely love it! I seem to be in the minority that loves headmasters. Must be well timed with when I watched it or maybe just the toys I had as a kid, but easily my favourite transformers gimmick!
Thanks for the compliment! I tend to only Transtectorize toys I don't especially like, either because of their design or their pointlessness (like Cybertron Jetfire's undercover-as-a-Decepticon "Sky Shadow" recolor). I actually really dig a lot of the Cybertron toys. Now Armada, on the other hand... oof. Gracias! Yeah, without the Bruticus head there's a TON of room in the cab. One could almost certainly fit mutliple TMs in there, given proper seating. Thanks for the compliment on the other customs. The Jedi Starfighter conversion is one I like a lot, but I haven't got a TM yet that I think would be a great choice. Right now most of the TMs are placeholders. Interesting about TM/Armada Rhinox -- I'm not gonna behead him, though, as I have a weird fondness for all things Beast Wars. Maybe if I wind up with some duplicates. Thanks! And oh man I'm with you -- I love headmasters as a gimmick. I'm bummed that Hasbro seems to have given up on doing the rest of the Powermasters, Targetmasters, and Pretenders as Titanmasters. I was really liking that trend! Thank you kinldy! The opening doors are part of the toy's normal transformation. (Notice that the wheel is still attached to the bottom of that door/panel.) It just happens to work out nicely for this custom.
I did like how the Ramhorn Titanmaster looks on the Jedi Starfighter figure. I also found removing the seat in the cockpit allows a Titanmaster to sit comfortably inside. Again, I love your ideas.
Thanks! Yes, I found the same thing about the seat for the pilot. Nice to meet a fellow fan who's on the same wavelength! I so wish the SWxTFs were better, I'd use more of them for Transtectors. I've used a few though... Greivous' starfighter, the clone turbo tank, and a couple of Darth Vader TIE fighters that I didn't really Transtectorize, but just made into pilotable mechs. Maybe those would be better for Diaclone pilots, actually...
I was never happy with the Star Wars Transformers. The vehicles were all excellent but basing the robot modes on SW characters was disappointing. At least Titanmasters afford a chance to remedy the disappointment. Agreed. It is nice to meet another fan on the same wavelength.
I really have to say that Botcon Weirdwolf is incredible, how did you get the headmaster port in there?
