Yeah, I've got some of those TR Sharkticons too. And a regular one from Cyberverse and six of the teeny ones. And an Alicon and a SS86 Gnaw. But I still want more!
They could easily retool Skullgrin for an ultra G1 looking Bludgeon. You'd have to retool the shins, waist panels -which seem to be separate from the leg, upper arms, head and chest. It would be like a Orion Pax retool.
Been wasting a lot of distracted energy imagining more core class combiners like the forthcoming Volcanicus. That would be a cool middle ground for cheapskates like myself (despite my irresponsible spending contradicting that statement), and a value add for core class figures. Not only is it a price issue, but it's also a space issue. Note: I am not making a statement against proper sized combiners. Just over here pleading for an affordable middle ground like a Skeksis chamberlain...
Pls dont let it be core class. THats all i ask. If you want to release a core class devastator later on, yes do it, but for the original release, pls, for all thats good, do it to scale! (or at least as close as it gets to scale).
Yes... Individual robot modes should be about the same size as the Stunticons.. maybe a tad taller.. and Devastator should be the size of the new Menasor.
The only reason we're getting a Core Class Volcanicus is so they milk the molds because they know a Monstructor/Dino King repaint/remold is coming out of it. It has to, all of the toolings are there. It's unmistakable. Absolutely unmistakable. I can't imagine they'll redo all of the combiners in Core Class. At least not at this point. G1, G2 yellow, G2 orange, Diaclone... Yeah, they could milk the daylights out of it. I honestly think that if they reissued the CW version, but filled in all of the empty parts, gave them proper articulating arms, and Mixmaster a proper cab foot, it would sell like hot cakes. The CW Devastator isn't perfect, but with a few important tweaks, people would throw cash at it like crazy. The individuals shouldn't be taller, but it's an unfortunate consequence of the Titan Class size of the combined form. As combined forms go, it's actually Sunbow scale chart accurate. Both Devastator and Predaking come to Omega Supreme's chest, that's 18", and both of them are that tall. The scale is indeed correct. If Devastator was as small as Menasor, it would throw the scale all out of whack and Omega wouldn't have his nemesis.
I personally don’t care about him being Omega Supreme sized. I care more about the individual bots not towering over all of the other combiner limbs. They can’t make the robots AND the combiners “proper” scale, so they have to choose one. I would choose the individual bots, since there’s more of them and they don’t stay combined all the time.
I would buy the CW one in heartbeat if it released. But your right, Devastator may need to be bigger. Maybe meet in the middle? A little bigger than Menasor (he's a six team combiner after all) and a tad shorter than Omega?
I've always liked the idea of the combiners being different sizes. I envision Predaking and Devastator as significantly larger, with Dinoking being much smaller than the others.
Yeah it makes a lot of sense for combiners made of varying team numbers to be different sizes so Devastator with 6 members being taller than Menasor with 5 members makes a lot of sense. Unpopular opinion but CW/UW Devastator scales great with modern figures. The alt modes scale great since construction equipment is supposed to be huge and Devastator is the perfect height. I really don't mind the individual bots being bigger since the two other modes work great and it is not like they are massively oversized, they aren't SS86 Dinobot height or anything. Just standard Voyager height. Sure there are some small nitpicks but overall it is great, and I don't see Hasbro redoing them anytime soon as they reissued the CW set just last year after they started SS86. They wouldn't have bothered doing that if they were planning to redo the Constructicons in the next few years.
I think the current Devastator was a fair compromise, though. They're bruisers who turn into an even bigger bruiser. Yes, Long Haul suffers for it, no doubt, but he's still fully articulated (if you get the Unite Warriors version) and that's pretty impressive. That said, I can understand the need for better sized/scaled figures in a collection. Right now, he's perfect where he is. He's supposed to come up to Omega's chest like he does. He just needs all of his individual components to have their limbs replaced with real arms, and all of the gaps filled in. Plus the proper accessories for each figure. It'd be dang near perfect as CW figures go and it's very passable in the current TF lines. (Has/Tak wouldn't reissue it if they didn't have faith in it, still.) I don't mind Dinoking/Monstructor being smaller, in general, it's just that it's not accurate to the anime. It's accurate AF to the original toyline, though. Which is kind of nice.
It's not wholly inaccurate to the original anime either though. Haslab Star Saber is said to be around a leader class, which would put him underneath the height of a CW combiner. Star Saber was eye to eye with Dinoking in Victory, which means that Dinoking also has to be smaller than an average combiner. We don't know how big this new Dinoking will be yet once combined, but so far Victory scale, or at least something close to it, is still possible.
Star Saber is quite a bit taller than even the Dinobot leader figures. Based on the behind the scenes pics of Volcanicus “completed” using fossilizer parts, Vocanicus/Dinoking will be a little shorter than a SS86 Dinobot.
Yep, I'd be very happy with a Unite Warriors Devastator that was slightly retooled for those reasons. I'm also fine with them at that current larger size too. Agreed.
