This is really good news. Given how it's TTmall I'm going to put in preorders asap. I made a short of the Chainfall and Gantry after I got one working.
Okay, this wasn't expected. (TTM, so I'll have to go TCP for here in the US, so I don't wait months.) This feels like a set I could go for just 1 of with all the stuff hitting now... (Makes prepaying less daunting.) I can use it to specialize a couple of units, but don't need all my units to have this as it isn't necessary. I actually am happy with it and like having a black Gamma tank and the light-grey jet can go with Maneuver Delta. I'm excited for this set! The light grey Tread is going to have a better looking vehicle mode. And those treads in black look amazing!
Just set up the steel sheet stickers on my Gantry. I'm one of those people who just *hates* stickers and has since childhood. I wasn't looking forward to the experience. The sticker-wells for these are exactly the right depth and shape to fit them, so with the exception of the two small ones on the upper catwalks, this was really easy to do. When they were a bit off, I was able to massage them into place with my fingers. Another moment where I'm impressed with the thoughtful design of Diaclone. I know probably most people here are like "yeah, we know" but it seemed worth noting for newcomers. The steel sheet stickers "just work."
My head canon is that these are EDC in the year 2007. The Autobots shared their Cybertronian tech with the former GIJoe organization to combat galactic threats (and the discovery that Waruders are trying to move in on their discovery of a new form of Energon called Freezon) and the EDC was the end result, headed by Marissa Fairbourne. The bots with actual faces like Big Powered and Diabattles are semi-autonomous. They aren't true Transformers like Optimus Prime or Starscream but are, rather, advanced AI comparable to Teletran-1. They can show limited emotion and they can communicate by way of their faces and mouths - and can operate on "auto-pilot" if in gestalt or integration modes - but they require humans to pilot them for peak performance. Certain Autobots are working closely with EDC, led by Delta Magnus who offered his own schematics for EDC to build V-Max Convoy. But certain Decepticons are enabling the Waruders on their quest for Freezon, hoping they can take advantage of the hive's lust for energy for their own machinations.
Oh man... this is totally nuking my math on Fort Chambers/Trucks/Trailers... but... i feel really compelled to get the optional set. Guess I have a reason to get a second Tread(less). Which... in a round-about-way solves one of my glow sheet issues lol. Actually if they bumped it to $100... and threw in at least one black fort chamber... I'd pay it. $120 for two... might be pushing it... but it'd solve a lot of (first-world)'problems'
If I ever get my hands on one of these kits, I would do everything in my power to reproduce everything. Like a curse
If only Takara Tomy gives us Expansion sets for Pod Gantry and DA-65 accessories (without having to buy additional mecha, just the monitor and desk pieces) that would be sweet. Of course that would go against their marketing team philosophy.
On Twitter, I have seen folks mentioning buying those individually on the second-hand market in Japan. Depending on where you live and/or contacts you may have, that may be an option. Something like Mercari in Asia, maybe? I don't think it really has done much as a site in the US... Ot is kind of like if Facebook Marketplace and eBay had a baby... LOL. Be sure to share on the Vintage thread. Vintage Diaclone Thread
Not yet anyways. Look at evolution of the reboot powered suit. I’m holding out hope we might see proper Cosmo roller and Dia trains one day.
I'm excited about the add-on sets, I'm all in on the black treads but don't have a tread(less) versaulter, so I guess I'll have to pick one up! Still hoping that this isn't our November reveal though, the Hawk versaulter's proper in color reveal can't come soon enough
Based on what? It's about the same size as the big powered command vehicle and will probably be just as well made.
Wait, you're saying Reboot Cosmo Roller will be the same size as the vintage version and open up into a playset?
Nice. You might try taking pictures from ground level up rather than pointing down. This will give the figure a better illusion of size, especially if you can force the perspective by shooting scenery in the distance behind it.
