It's similar in design/concept to the Dynasty Warrior games. While I haven't played it myself, those types of games are notoriously shat upon by people who don't enjoy them, so being able to separate legitimate criticism from "I don't get it, so it is bad" is hard to do.

I really wish Hasbro would let Koei make a Warriors-style game based on Transformers. I hate shooters so I could never get into Fall or War.

I actually live here Japan and have had the game for a very long time . I have played that game a ton. The only game I have played more, Transformers wise , is forged to fight .

Hasbro doesn’t spend a cent making console games. They make money by selling licenses to developers who in turn spend money to make and then sell the game they made.

 

Damn, even the mobile games are starting to get the plug pulled now. I enjoyed this game, I thought it would've lasted longer given the amount of new bots they have added this year.

Honestly, no big deal for me. Always disliked the whole mobile scene and wanted consoles (like I\'m sure we all do). If this had been an actual liscensed fighting game without gacha mechanics and unique movepools per character, I\'d be far more invested.

 

Still so sad that I never got a chance to play ROTF Multiplayer before the servers shut down. All I want is another TF game like that, so I can have a chance to know how great it felt back then.

 

I love the dynasty warriors games. It isn’t really much like those. The combat is pretty basic compared the them.

I think an actual warriors game with the transformers license would be amazing. But it’s not a matter of Hasbro “letting” Koei Tecmo do one, they would actually want to make one and pitch it to Hasbro.

Also, yes. I own(ed?) the terrible PS2 game. I had a friend in Japan send it to me at release. I was excited as hell for it based on the trailer that came out for it. I played it through to completion in a desperate attempt to justify the purchase and find something redeeming about it. It didn’t work. I don’t even know where it is anymore. I didn’t sell it but I haven’t seen it in like five years. I don’t miss it. I will defend the character models though. I still think they’re fantastic for a PS2 game. Needed more vibrant colors though. I think the character modelers were the only ones on the team that actually enjoyed what they were doing.

 

Guys, will my kids be able to continue playing the main story once the support is over?

 

Nope. Won’t even load once servers are down. None of these companies ever develop games to be able to work outside of their online infrastructure, and it takes too much money and time to patch it in later when they’re ready to shut it down.

They don’t put it in there from the start because then someone would inevitably find a way to not have to link to the servers while the game is active, and not be part of the microtransaction ecosystem.

Enjoy it while you can.

 

Gonna try and complete LOC 3 before it ends! What a journey this game has been for many years. Met and interacted with cool people from the alliance missions and on the discord. Will miss all the fun for sure.

 

There are actually means of playing multiplayer on console and PC again as of this year! Takes no jailbreaking or anything like that. If you look up “Transformers Reenergized Project” you should find it.

 

People out here acting like the Armada game is somehow extremely bad or worse than that poorly made G1 PS2 game reminds me of some of the reviews and comparisons of the two from the time, like IGN:

@Valkysas already told you, but if you don't know how things work over here with licenses, then I'll suggest doing a couple of Google searches and read/listen to articles and post mortems that explain this topic. Specially before posting with that tone.

Even with all of the NDAs, there's a lot of resources that cast a bit of light on how these deals works.



Regarding the current situation, Hasbro Gaming has that new studio, but there's no guarantee that they'll develop a TPS or something more targeted towards teens/adults.

They are also happily working with 3rd party partners such as mobile devs and Outright Games.

Making a AA/AAA game targeted towards the action/shooter demographic without a proper franchise boost (TV, Web, etc) is a money sinker that not many companies are willing to take a chance just because.
