The 1st thing I bought on ebay was a MOC Go-Bots Leader 1 (blue/white version) and Cy-Kill (black/gray) version. This was either the 1st or 2nd year of ebay's existence. Getting those in the mail was a very good experience. My 2nd purchse was a vintage GI*JOE ARAH MOC Hawk v. 2 and Snake Eyes v. 3. That dude kept the money and never sent me the figures. I almost swore off ever using ebay again after that.
g1 pre-rub brawn mosc for $65 in 1998 (Bought a mosc bumblejumper for $167 a few weeks later from same seller)
I had purchased the TRU reissue of G1 Soundwave and wanted more tapes. I dont remember which ones were the first purchases, but the first couple were tapebots. I then bought a handful of G1 combiners + citybots - and about a year later - a lot of Japanese G1 All kinda pointless, because I sold off the whole G1 and Japanese G1 collection a few years later, for a lot less than it was worth, to pay for car repairs.
A few of Kenner's Super Powers Collection figures. FeeBay was an easy avenue to completing my childhood collection... and back then, there was no stupid tax and shipping costs were reasonable. Today's cost for Priority Mail is outrageous!
First item I ever bought on eBay was a MISB G1 Jetfire. I specifically remember this because I bought it the week before the 9/11 attack and the dude's shop was literally a block from the twin towers. Guy came through and shipped though even if it took some extra time. He even messaged me unprompted and apologized for taking three weeks to ship. Dropped $350 on it which at the time was the most I'd ever spent on a single piece for my collection. Don't have it anymore unfortunately because I sold it for almost twice that when I eventually got out of collecting vintage G1 but that's likely for the best. Just don't have as much room to display things as I used to.
