Was only the other day that Hasbro were banging the drum about increasing profits by 50% and no real mention of customers.

We have seen price rises over the last year on these figures where deluxes are priced at previous voyager prices and voyagers are getting closer to leader prices. QC issues and yellowing has not improved /gone away but increasing prices for these figures have. It was only the other day that the Hero is Born set went up for £89.99. A voyager and deluxe with a gold golf ball and key. £65-70 tops. £89.99, haha.

Hasbro are not fussed about your finances.

I’d say Hasbro need to reduce the volume of characters they are pumping out at the moment. Access the financial scene for small outlets that distribute their figures and end customers buying. I just don’t think they do care.

Besides, a Haslab will help to separate the wheat from the chaff showing who is committed. If the numbers are there, they can go ahead. If not, it fails.

Back to GS. I’m pleased they are doing a figure for this character, just a shame the scale isn’t right IMO.

It's not by name, but it's directed specifically at "folks who understand/know who and what GS should look like", he considers himself one of those folks.

If we should be free to discuss and express our * own * opinions, then what needs to happen is people discussing/expressing their * own * opinions. What you did was speak for yourself * and * "folks who understand/know who and what GS should look like", implicity forcing your opinion on them.

It's a simple thing: speak for only yourself. Do not speak for others. Do not arrogantly assume a group of "folks" or that "we" share your opinion. Your words show that you think you can speak for others and that others must agree with your opinion. Re-phrase. But really... re-think this arrogant assumption and gain some perspective about what is and isn't a singular, personal opinion.

how is this a velocitron figure? shouldn\'t it have been a generations selects? it doesn\'t fit the racing theme.

Would have preferered they had done shattered glass astrotrain and done a heavy retool of jet fire or skylynx for this character.

As opposed to a ufo which doesn't really fit a racing theme either.

Stop me if you heard this....a shuttle and a ufo have a race......

Does Cosmos fit the racing theme? Just because he has a flag? This is someone for Cosmos to 'race', or he added the train mode to race. Or he's the transportation bringing off-worlders to Velocitron to be in the race.

I dunno man, between this and the Core Dinobots being Dinoking pretools it sure seems like HasTak are testing the waters for a more thorough dive in to JP characters at retail sooner than later.

You're asking this of the line that already includes Hauler.

The Velocitron line is HasTak's version of Wacky Racers. Embrace the madness.

Agree with all this. I suppose hasbro need to get used out of the astrotrain mold so they decide to make another shuttle character and have him under the speedia subline using the mold.

Was thinking about getting the a hero is born set but can't afford it. Maybe in new year.

I'm starting to think the next HasLab is gonna be Grandus and I'm not sure I'm going to be able to stop myself.

Yeah, that's pretty much the only thing throwing me off. The distribution of the black and white looks much better on the render than the actual figure.
Still gonna buy it, though. He'll look great with that Micromaster squad, and I never got the Astrotrain mold so it'll be new to me. If it bugs me enough in the end I can probably slap a quick bit of black paint to even out the train mode, but it's not that important.

It'd also be neat if a 3P could make a clip-on piece to get the shuttle-nose chest that then inverts or something to be a filler for that gappy rear section of the shuttle.

    Giggity

    It's quite possible.

I'd love to see an iacon city set playset done with a few legend core size figures to go with it. Could have a maccadams oil tavern some repair bays, a spaceport etc. Maybe a tower with a balcony for megatron to give one of his rallying speeches.

    It would be different.....

This thread reminds me of the Space Shuttle '86 Challenger. It started off so excitingly. We know what happened shortly thereafter...

Nah, that was a tragic loss of life.

This is a children's toy some adults don't like.

This is absolutely the best on-hand mold that they could have used for him, but this repaint once again highlights my biggest problem with the Astrotrain mold: it's too damn small, and I'm not even talking about price. Astrotrain is almost always portrayed as massive, and a leader slot was the perfect chance to bring that to life. He should have been the height of the SS86 Dinobots. It's an otherwise good mold, but that toy has now been used to represent two distinct characters, both of whom are usually portrayed as huge. That mold, despite being leader class, is still far too small for both of the characters it represents.

Despite my complaints though, this is still a really cool repaint of an obscure character and I'm here for it. Still gonna pick this one up.

Well the big negative of this for me is the terrible shuttle alternate mode. However I think robot mode looks fantastic even if inaccurate. The gorgeous new head sculpt helps a whole lot. The train mode’s coal cart will also help bulk out the modulator Rocket base from the Galactic Odyssey pack.
