I wonder if the side panels will be absolutely necessary to keep the trailer together cause it looks like if they're remove them the trailers will have that G1 look to it.

And September can't get here fast enough, I think I'm more excited about this than Classics Prowl.

    Gun!!

I'm guessing they designed him to make up for lost ass-kicking/disintegrating over the years

The Magnus set does look very nice, but I can't justify spending ~$80 on equipment for an ~$11 toy.

In my past experience with TFSource (two prior orders), I've never gotten an order confirmation. Never had a problem with any of my orders arriving, though.

That new gun brings to mind the quote in TF:A from Bumblebee about UM: "Now I know why they call him Ultra Magnus". As long as he can lift it, there won't be much of anything 'He can't deal with now'. :thumb

Okay, RBFG or UBFG aside, I noticed that BBTS raised the price on their pre-order, so it's now the same price before shipping as TFSource. Considering BBTS uses UPS exclusively for shipping (who seem to damage small packages as often as they can), my choice of where to pre-order from is made.

The set does cost alot, but I'm willing to shove some other things out of my budget to have an Ultra Magnus that really is a Classic, not just one of many re-colors.

No. It only gets cheaper if there is a close to guaranteed buying commitment prior to producing the units en-mass. And only if production gets cheaper en-mass. If he is molding these by himself, then it will cost the same regardless and will most likely not get cheaper.

That being said, I would totally buy it once I see the final product. That thing looks awesome!

Yup, and you also have to account for the cost it took to develop the product in the first place. How many prototypes did he go through? Then there is the process of molding and trying to figure out the right kind of plastics to use. It was probably expensive to even get to the final product, and THAT is figured in the price too. They don't just "eat" the price .. its recouped in sales of final product.

A HUGE example is World of Warcraft. Do you know how many people I have talked to that think Blizzard is actually making all that money from each player? When all is said and done they don't make as much as most people think. There are TONS things that count as overhead. Equipment maintenance, space rental to hold the servers in multiple states, high speed (more than cable!) internet, bandwidth, electricity, and the money to pay all of the administrators and other support staff involved.

Now this is a realistic figure. People seem to think they are making $100,000 off selling these things and ripping us off. They aren't making that much when all is said and done when you figure that $50,000 a year will barely pay my bills and they have risk involved.

Don't get me wrong, I never accused anyone, so be cool! :)  I just used your comment to segue into my own thoughts and they apply to whole thread, not anyone in particular.

Like I said, there are reasonable complaints against high-priced fan made items but that comes with the territory. I rememer the custom Cyclonus and Wheelie cost so much more, and assembly was even required! So this thing is a godsend. I'm not holding my breath for genuine Hasbro armor so I'm going to get this thing and hopefully it will encourage further creative efforts like the CJ armor and UM armor.

Man DAMN all the lack of understanding, this is worth everybit of 76 dollars. I've got almost 4 months to stash away for it too? It's epic and more articulated than the G1, more durable (looking) than the titanium. If you're a magnus fan, this is a worthy addition. The previously available version (which looked excellent, the one Mark made for the MP) was 700 DOLLARS!!!

I don't get people saying I would pay (not picking on anyone) 50 dollars for this, but 76?!!!? Damn that's breaking the bank? The extra 25 will, at most, get you 2 deluxes and MAYBE a scout figure, or a voyager! We're talking about a once in a lifetime exclusive and 76 dollars is alot? Doesn't make sense to me. I have preordered it, and may preorder another.

For 20 years I wanted something better than that DAMN G1 BRICK I loved so much! And now I'm getting 2! This and animated Magnus!!

That said, I have a hard time justifying ponying up nearly 300 for a Masterpiece magnus, so go figure :rolleyes2

With the shipping cost included, $100 is too much.

I'd be all for it if it was $50 plus reasonable shipping.

    Hooray for Price Gouging!

Is this true? BBTS only ships UPS? That's problematic, as UPS never delivers to my house correctly. NEVER. They refuse to leave packages that are signed for, they ignore requests to "Attempt to redeliver" sometime when I'm actually HOME, and I always end up having to drive 20 minutes to the nearest UPS depot to pick up my friggin packages... Fedex and USPS are all good, but UPS here is staffed by incompetents.

I guess it's too much to hope for, for a third option to pop up out of the woodwork, offering these for less than the online giant price-fixers... :scalper

BBTS default shipping method is UPS (that is, if you don't choose anything). But they do have the option of shipping USPS if you click on it.

I would love nothing more to have this, but I don't have the Classics UM, and I don't have $75 to spend on an add-on (however awesome and impressive it is). If it was $50 even I'd consider it, but I'll just wait for the eventual Hasbro release that I can get for $30.

Also, they say the word "piece" 5 times in one paragraph.
