Are people transforming the wheel section properly? I know that imthe leg panel won't peg in (it's not long enough) without it transformed properly.

Thanks to all of your guy's train talk, you enticed me enough to go through my attic and break out one of my old train sets. I blame all of you for enticing me enough to do this.

I also blame all of you for making me want to go through all of my old boxes of trains and realize how messy our attic actually is.

Million dollar idea to whoever wants to make it, actual working transforming model trains, as I will buy your entire stock.

But anyways until then, I am going to go make me a train desk.

Some of it is the shafts are perfectly toleranced, there's no give or sag. Its actually some resistance, and its kind of awkward to seperate the 2 panels. The TT video makes it look a lot easier, especially when its an area they warn you to be careful at. I could see people weakening the plastic trying to work it free.

Not exactly sure, as I actually haven't been too delicate with that area and it hasn't broken on me, but I just make sure I'm applying force directly towards the direction the piece is moving.

Also, I have forcibly bend the leg panels around the combiner thigh without untransforming anything else (if that makes sense), and so far I haven't had any issues. Flying a bit close to the sun, but it seems alright thus far.

I keep flipping him back and forth and he’s honestly much better than I would have initially expected - only thing I would have liked is somewhere to store his pantographs in bot mode

So are all the leakers nuclearizated, or there is no hype behind trainbots? When Takara will show up their preorders?

Totally, was super careful. I do believe there needs to be some margin of error given to the user to allow for things to not break when you don't do it perfectly right. I never feel this way when transforming far more complex figures, just shoddy material choice in that area.

    Absolutely not.
I was thinking that as well, there is no winning when trying to unlock the knee articulation.

I just want to say I really appreciate your demeanor while explaining the faults with this toy. You aren’t ranting and raving about Takara. You do say what needs to be said and your criticisms are very poignant. Also I acknowledge that I’m a typically seen as a TT apologist, but I completely agree about there needing to be much more margins for error with toys this expensive. When everyone’s are breaking then it should have been designed differently. A broken toy is always a permanent bad mood.

I have to refer to this post again.

DO NOT tab the side panels into the small slots on the side of the train. Ever. Doing this WILL cause a bending moment at the fragile joint.

DO NOT do what Thattoyguy did in his video where he pushed the panels out for more knee bend WHILE KEEPING THE PANELS TABBED IN.

DO completely ignore the included Takara instructions and the official Takara transformation video.

DO watch and follow Wotafa's transformation video, with the exception of point 1 above.

I try my hardest to have a 3D perspective on these things. It's very easy to be emotional about a hobby that's meant to bring you joy, bringing you pain. Hence why I took a few hours to assess my feelings in an appropriate manner, which I think more people should do. I appreciate the acknowledgement.

This is a very mature statement. Always with an heart of a kid, never with a brain (of a kid).

Here's my alternate leg config to accommodate the knee bend and fill out the leg.

Looks to be the ideal way. I really hate how shoved back there the wheels and kibble feel in leg mode.

Is this only breaking when transformed into leg mode, then?

No, when you spin the panels around and it collided with something and you force it unknowingly

Usually when going to leg mode, and if you move the panels out when tabbed in, in leg mode.
