Looks alright, I'm still not liking the break in the middle of the vehicle mode though, and lifting up the whole back to raise the cannons is a bit meh. I doubt I'll get this one, I have the original and my WFC shelf already has 2 Starscreams as it is.

 

That cockpit hangs down to his crotch waaaaayy too much. I know, so was the original, did not like that either.

 

Yeah, I have no connection with the Armada line in general so this figure is going to be my unofficial IDW Pharma, at least until HasTak decides to release a real one.

Hopefully Megs will be as beefy as Galvatron is with either a Requeim Blaster, or a Skyboom Shield accessory.

I'm considering doing the same with Ramjet if he gets made for Starscream's Forged form (with some added red paint, and head swapped with the original head if Ramjet gets a new one).

 

dudes lookin' better and better. It would be cool to see a 3P do a replacement wing set with the sword(s) built into them but honestly these photo's have moved the toy into the must haves for me.

The Faux Sabre and sword he comes with will go into the box of forgotten accessories and I'll give him the OG armada one.

 

Give me all of the repaints/remolds Hasbro.....ALL of them.

Looking at some screencaps from the show, most of the important bits of color missing can be pretty easily fixed with some black paint - the tips of the cannons, the sides of the torso, and maybe the top of the chest/neck area (though that might be tricky to get right). The white/grey on his chest/shoulders would be a little trickier, and that's where stickers might be ideal. As for the grey on his legs... I can live without that.

 

Inferno and Armada Starscream keep looking better with every picture...those two are probably my most anticipated upcoming releases. I love that pic with ER Starscream. Bring on all the repaints!

I realize I'm in the minority but I'm glad the budget didn't allow for a wing sword. I always that looked absolutely ridiculous. I'd have wished for a better looking sword for sure but I'm sure there will be an alternative to it sooner than later.

 

I really find this guy just incredibly mediocre... or maybe slightly below mediocre based on everything that's missing...

While it's just kind of lame that he doesn't come with his minicon, not having the actual wing sword is just unforgivable, that's like HIS ENTIRE THING.
It also seems like the silly included sword and absolutely ridiculous tiny Star Saber Dagger would take just was much budget as an actual engineered wing sword.

As a figure, he's not really doing anything wrong, but he's not doing anything exciting. The deco is lacking. If it wasn't for those beautiful flaps covering the wrist hollows, he'd look like a deluxe
(I was surprised how big he is next to Earthrise Starscream, who's transformation scheme puts him on the shorter side of Voyagers, he just doesn't look much more impressive then the T30 deluxe, other then maybe a bit 'bulkier')...

Armada purists would probably hate it, but honestly, I really wish they'd taken the opportunity to fix some of the poor design choices the original had:
Add vertical stabilizers/tail fins in alt mode (jet always looked unfinished to me without them), make the black part of the nosecone fold back in 'bot mode to avoid the ahem"robo-wang"ahem look (a pet peave of mine in jetformers going back to the OG Macross veritech), and making the "arm box" move in closer to the jet mode so it's less blatantly hanging off the wings.

...oh, and a translucent canopy would do wonders for his overall look, the painted blue looks really tacky. (and his wings seem a bit undersized for the rest of him in both modes)

I know they got grief for the TFP Legacy figures being to far removed from the originals, but I feel like Starscream here has gone the other way, being to close to the original.
Doesn't bode well for TFA Megatron king to similar to the original in all it's bad proportions...

 

Gotta say, the Star Saber accessory makes a lot more sense here now that we've seen Hot Shot. Definitely feels like something they wanted to give Hot Shot but couldn't budget it in, so they threw it in with Starscream. That way you can have the "rival swordsmen" thing going with them, which is pretty damn cool.

 

It's amazing how the majority of photos have his cannons in the wrong orientation in robot mode.

 

I'll probably pick this one up. He won't be Starscream in my collection, but I like the design enough to add him as "new" seeker. Might give him a different head though.

Starscream looks good, i just with the tips of the cannons had some black on the tips.

Hmm with a wing remold they could make Windblade maybe, along with Slipstream maybe.
