Lots of people are going legends- you can now get the same look and quality, and damn near the same articulation with these new mini mps. Plus they’re a third of the cost and take up 1/5 the space. It’s a win-win-win-win-win.

I cant get into legends aside from a few one offs like the DJD. My brain can make piece easier with spending $100-150 on a MP today way easier than $50-60 for one smaller than a deluxe.

Ironic, my first legend was mini-me tarn… I still feel like it’s the best tarn out there but not nearly my favorite legends fig.
To each his own *fist bump*

I totally understand that value over price balance, but the beauty of going smaller is the diorama aspect.

This. I totally understand why they're worth the prices they charge, but for roughly twice the price you get like four times as much toy, so MP feels like a BETTER VALUE.

4 times as much toy, doesn't mean 4 times the value. I'd rather a smaller toy with a much simpler yet clever transformation, one that im not afraid to mess with, and actually feels like a solid robust toy. Oh and the shelf space...*drool*

No, I get it. I have some Legends figures and have been sorely tempted to just liquidate one of my other collections and go for it. But a few things stop me:

    1) Legends figures are awesome but for whatever reason don't really DISPLAY all that well. And the Titan Class figures aren't BIG enough to REALLY work with Legends figures (Fans Toys Fort Max and LikeToys Metroplex ARE though, and that could be a game changer). I still haven't seen a Legends display that really did justice to the figures themselves that wasn't some kind of super awesome multi-level diorama that's beyond my capacity to create anyway.
    2) Legends figures are basically mini-MPs... but they lack many of the advantages of full-sized MPs (good value relative to official goods, size and detail, display presence) while embodying many of the same disadvantages, namely being not fun to mess with. I don't feel any safer messing with a lot of modern Legends toys than I do with MP and particularly mainline toys. They have such small parts and are so complex I feel like I'd have to be one of those typists in Ghost In A Shell whose fingers can split into a dozen smaller fingers in order to gracefully manipulate them, LOL.
    3) The mainline figures are so on-the-nose in terms of what I want them to be, while being 1/2 to 1/3 the price of Legends figures, that they fill the 'fun to play with' niche, while their inferior engineering and gappiness are significantly offset by their superior shelf presence. Plus, pretty much EVERY character has been represented at that scale at this point.
    4) That reminds me... my MP collection is essentially COMPLETE. Aside from the rest of the Protectobots, the Battlechargers, and a few upgrades I plan to get (XTB Magnus, Deformation Space Blaster), I'm already enjoying my "dream" MP display. Since NewAge and Magic Square seem determined to go head-up for every character forever, it's definitely going to take quite some time to cover all the ground that MP already has (to the extent you could even get away with mixing-and-matching between NA and MS... for some figures you really can, others are REALLY differently scaled)

I really, really wish that Magic Square in particular would upscale some of their designs though. I think they'd actually work better at a larger scale. I'd totally pay 3P Legends prices for a high-end "mainline" scaled line... basically, ACTUAL mini-MPs at the Seige scale. But why would the companies do that when they can sell smaller figures for the same price, meaning they can cram more units within a given shipping volume, meaning they make more money? (I think this, more than anything else, is why so many companies went Legends scale... it just makes more economic sense, especially given how complete the MP and mainline scales already are in terms of character coverage)

TL;DR. Figures only display as well as who poses them. lol:p . I've never had any problems with the feel of legends even given how small they are. MS especially has near indestructible nylon which is fantastic and works very well with their scale and particularly with the transformations, unlike some others....

Anyway, back on topic, I'm tempted to grab another DS Blaster just too mess with. Like others have said, maybe a clearcoat would tone everything down a little bit, and help get rid of that cheap look. At the very least he'd fit better in with my collection then he currently does. What's the chance of having near immovable joints after the fact.:lol  Has someone actually done so yet? Curious what blaster would look like, before I embark on anything.

I just don't like the aesthetics of 3rd party legends. They have the appearance of looking super cheap compared to my MP figures. I mean just...

They can get a lot better than that Seaspray, some are like tiny Fans Toys figures

It's not even a fair comparison, that Legends Seaspray was not only a very old mold, it was from a budget 2-pack with another figure. Also, it's also not a bad figure, it's pretty accurate and has a good amount of articulation.

As mainly a masterpiece collector I’m super impressed with the quality of legend figures. Some of them are like mini masterpieces and fun to play with and transform where as I’m scared to transform some of my masterpiece figures.

Unfortunately no, MS while being dated is still superior, you must wait for Spindrift 3.0 next year.

At 50% it's an amazing deal, but since I had $55 in credit through ShowZ... there was just no way I could pass this figure up for $15 shipped. Hell, the Ramhorn alone is probably worth $15.

So between the 3 Crimson Wings getting a major discount in the middle of the year to now Recording Alliance being discounted... Is Deformation Space having a fire sale and fixing to disappear?
