Honestly I think that's what's gravitated me towards this. It's not that this figure does a whole lot, but it does so nearly perfectly. The paint and sculpt are crisp and don't skimp, which is something almost inevitable with most TF toys official or unofficial.

The fact that it's the inherently lively and dynamic Ox aesthetic is just icing.

I'm sorry for what happened to your hand, have you solved with the shopkeeper?

Could I ask you a great courtesy? How heavy can you weigh it? Is the skeleton metal or what parts? Thank you!

The retailer is reaching out to them for replacement parts which is great. In the meantime I managed to fix it, how long that lasts is another story. But it means I can continue playing, so happy days.

Don't have him to hand right now so can't comment on the actual weight, but can tell you that this isn't a diecast frame. The figure uses metal for the base of the feet, the majority of the calves, part of the crotch, the chest plate and a chunk of the torso assembly. There may be some in the thighs too, not sure.

Are any of the joints obviously diecast?

Would love Cyclonus and Scourge to go with Galvatron.

Only ones I can see (and I could be wrong) would be the secondary joints in the knee articulation.

Ordinarily this way of using diecast really rubs me up the wrong way as I much prefer a metal skeleton. The way threezero handle metal within their DLX and more recent Premium figures is almost entirely structural and damn, does it work a treat. Here it's pretty much for pomp and ceremony. And it gets a pass. Because I'm shallow.

I also feel like the inherent simplicity of the design lends itself better to this method of diecast integration than something more complex.

Whoa, Galvatron is more metallic than I thought he'd be. Looks great! Also his head looks way better in pretty much every photo since those initial solicits.

I'm finding the joints on my copy of hot rod to be somewhat loose, particularly the lower knee joints. He can stand just fine, but it's annoying having the leg flop around while manipulating the figure (especially at the price point). Does anyone know if it's possible to access the joints and tighten them?

I see it on Rodimus too but it's not really a functional concern, like you say, more an annoyance.

However, I had to tighten Galvatron's legs when he came in last night because the difference in their weight actually made posing them a bit of a nightmare. You could totally do the same with Rodimus and I imagine I'll do the same myself.

I used Kiki. Bent the knees to gain access, a couple of drops either side of the knee joints, worked the joints to get it in, then pretty much let it dry. I manipulated the joints every couple of hours in between. Worked a treat.

Galvatron is at least 45% solid metal parts. His entire torso, crotch, ass, legs from the knees down and the majority of the feet are metal. He weighs close to 1.5kg. It's pretty dumb that they didn't reinforce the knee joints with diecast as well, or y'know, have them ratchet. He's almost 500g heavier than Rodimus.

Guess that explains why they're the same price.

    What is Kiki?

It's a water based polyurethane and really does the job. I tend to use Future on smaller figures, bigger ones get this treatment. A little goes a long way.

And yeah, he's an absolute beast of a thing.

Rodimus is waiting for me at home.

Hope nobody steals it off my fucking porch or I’ll call the police.

Okay, so Rodimus was there, Amber alert prevented.

First impressions: he ain't perfect, and in strange ways. First of all the lower legs are also loose-but-not-really-loose on mine, too. As stated it doesn't really do anything but it feels like a design oversight to not be ratcheted. Mine also has, and I have no idea how, some of the protective plastic caught in the seam of the torso. I don't even know how this happened. Wouldn't he be assembled before the plastic was put on? I peeled it off no problem but technically there's still some in there. Weird. Also the tiny antenna on the big spoiler were deformed in package but- and I shit you not -as I've had him out they're gradually straightening. Maybe I bent them taking the plastic off? (speaking of I think this guy single-handedly undid all Hasbro's conservation efforts with packaging by including roughly thirty pounds of plastic wrapping :lol )

Other than those quibbles? He rocks. Both headsculpts are kissable gorgeous, the paint and finish is pristine, and the articulation is really good. Amazing/ No, but I can get some decent poses. The shins being metal help tremendously. I only wish the drop-down hips were individual. The stand is fantastic, and lets you take full advantage of the articulation he has without fear of toppling from the diecast up top. The Studio Ox is strong with this one and makes me wish we had this style in an OVA or something. Also I'm so glad the photon eliminator clips together. I didn't realize it at first and thought "no way this thing's holding together with that one tiny tab."

Only other thing: for this price they should've included a battery. Like come on, $300 and you couldn't stick in a lousy little button battery?

I don't recall the promo pics showing a stand. How does he connect - is it a socket, or a claw thingie? And does Galvatron have one?
