Model kit, huh? Ok, maaaaaaybe I'll pick it up if it's not too outrageously priced. Still not thrilled about there being no Megatron to go with my original version but a model kit usually means it's not as expensive and it also means it's easy to do some quick customization so you end up with a really nice final product. If they drop the line again and don't do Megatron, though, I'm gonna' be very annoyed.

What was wrong with their v1?

I vaguely recall it was $100, didn't transform, and many ppl complained about it but can't remember what were the exact issues.

I dunno.. When it comes to non transforming I kinda only am willing to pay like 60% of what I'd pay for a transforming figure. Will. See though. I love the tf prime designs

It was made of incredibly flimsy plastic. It felt like it was cardstock, not plastic. And it was poorly assembled with many pieces falling off even before taking it out of the box.

    Oh. That sucks.

The robot hero made it through my unskilled transformation fine. Is a spindly guy, but nothing at all felt cheap, thin, plasticity or at a breaking point. Just one of those exploding transformations that I never want to repeat. Lol

I had no idea their previous figure was so questionably made. Guess I never really researched it at all. So I now I don't feel so great about pre-ordering this one.

I also didn't realize this was a model kit. I don't mind model kits. I have lots of Bandai Star Wars figure model kits that I assembled. And I like those. Is it assumed this new model kit will be prepainted? Or at least molded completely in the appropriate colors?

It will be preassembled and prepainted
This is the 2.0 - DLX version
It will be bigger and better
Materials will be much stronger and add in diecast parts as well

I have the v1. It feels like the DMK prime as far as quality. The main issue was the fact that it was a pre assembled model kit with sub par packaging. It was fully painted and pieces were not glued together well. Glue really doesn’t hold up well when trying to adhere two painted surfaces together. So, everyone received theirs with loose and broken parts. Luckily mine arrived almost 100% unscathed. Only the crest of the head broke off.

I don’t regret getting it and will definitely be picking this up.

    Hello :p

I have to admit I'm wavering. I'm still pissed that I bought the first Optimus as part of a line that ended up going nowhere and now they're starting over in a new scale, so my existing Optimus is now a standalone and I'll need a new one if I want it to match their Megatron and any others they might go on to do, but I mean it looks good and I love Optimus so I kinda wanna get it.

All right, I figured the old thread had become the thread for this figure. But apparently not!

So anyway, from what I've seen, there's no solid confirmation that will come with the Matrix.
Would be cool if it came with one like the R.E.D. figure did. 1C4BD664-E604-452D-B990-C9414C96EDA7.jpeg

Doesn't look like there's really any differences between it and the old one except for some extra paint, but the old one looks great so that's not a negative (if anything it's a positive cause I won't feel like I'm missing out with the new one lol)

Here's hoping it's more sturdy though...

The entire point of it is to be the same figure but bigger and not made of paper.
