So glad I got this upgrade kit. I had also accidentally ordered the other one, but it worked out perfect, as the other kit has fillers for the arms... Super happy with the final result!

Yeah. That looks way better. He’s no longer transformable with these mods, correct?

Still transforms. The only parts forming piece is the waist piece, but it clips in the underside in beast mode.

Out of every Transformer my son has, this thing is the worst of all when trying to actually play with it. The claws are so weakly held in there that they constantly fall off when you open and close them.

That might be fixable with a little heat on the claw, then bending it to improve the friction, and letting it cool in that position. My copy doesn't have this issue and I mess with the claws a lot to try different accessories in them.

This figure has been around for a while but I recently had an occasion to come back to it. My first thought was how much I regretted that I spent ~$80 on this mold since I have all three releases and a double of the standard Kingdom figure to keep MISB. Maybe it's the upside of low expectations but when looking at it with fresh eyes, I found myself liking it a lot more than I remembered. It's not horrible. The robot mode is stumpy but it's still a good representation of the CG model and it's fun enough to pose. When converting it, there remains the unmistakable sense that the engineering just stopped 2/3 of the way through development and they decided to go to production anyway. It does things that feel like the Transformers equivalent of "illegal Lego building techniques" (like what happens to the robot mode chest/head when in alt mode). Still, when viewed from some angles, scorpion mode is actually really impressive and creepy looking. In sculpt, it actually represents a real world animal, something that the original BW Mega class figure (which I adore) didn't even attempt.

I would LOVE to know the story around the development of this figure I can't shake the feeling that something happened to this guy (and his wavemate, Tracks) that resulted in such half baked engineering.

$80 all together on 4 separate figures that use this mold.
