It’s amusing to me that a lot of these non-transforming licensed figures add vehicle kibble (tires, windshield wipers) to more strongly evoke the brand, while so many of the official transforming ones tie themselves into knots to conceal those elements.

Wait, so it's more expensive if you order it with the base, and for less time?

I appreciate having another Transformers model kit line, however, what's up with the price? Either you do their unnecessary monthly plan or you're stuck with the ugly base.

Man, this is really cool, but the exorbitant price is made far worse by the mental gymnastics that is... how you pay for it. Can't I just buy it in one lump sum? Oh, I can, but have to buy the display base, and it still gets shipped in multiple packs.

If I'm going to build a model kit, I want to buy the model kit, not 12 different packs of a model kit to then assemble it a year later. What a mess.

While I like the model-building concept, can't say I'm impressed at all by the aesthetic of this.

IMO, it looks like failed attempt to make a stylized version of Optimus.

I was thinking the same thing it's just a giant non-transforming robot you might as well make him look like a mech; they would have saved money in not adding the windshield wipers and the tires keeping the legs smooth. As well as the smoke pipes.

I can see this selling as well as the 1:144 scale Gundarium Alloy RX-78... if you know, you know.

Kind of Gundam-y proportions, but that whole \"yeah, give us the money up front and we\'ll send you a couple boxes of parts at a time\" doesn\'t inspire confidence these days.

Also, it\'s $1200 which... I don\'t care how cool it is, that\'s more than some people\'s actual cars cost.

Hopefully they fare better than Eaglemoss. Still sitting on a half built model since they went out of business.

Which is they only thing stopping me from jumping in this, I want to be able to complete the thing.

It's big, at something like 25". But Threezero does figures nearly that big at half the price with impressive articulation and electronics.

This was my first thought as well!

I paid $800 for my last BMW a few years ago.

This isn’t a bad effort, but it’s stupid-expensive and far too Gundam-like for my tastes.

Nothing wrong with Gunpla. I like Gunpla. My middle-schooler loves it. But you buy the entire kit at once and it's all there and you don't have to worry about the entire torso getting lost in the mail or the manufacturer going out of business before the arms are shipped or what-have-you.

    Also, $1200.

We've seen similar styles of kit done in Japan for other properties. That giant Mazinger kit and the huge VF-1 in fighter mode come to mind. But these aren't really my jam. I don't want to build a thing piece by piece over months. That's just too much delay in getting an enjoyable piece.

The style of this thing isn't too shabby, those stacks are weird af though. In any case, if I was going to drop 1000+ dollars on a piece, I can think of several others I'd rather have.
