So, why has this yellowing issue not plagued Studio Series figures?

It's certainly affected Junkheap and Sludge, there are images in this thread.

And Spike from what I’ve heard. And definitely BB Ratchet.

That’s why I’ve kept mine hidden behind a bunch of other figures. If I wanna mess with the mold, I'll use Ironhide; likely won’t yellow, and has better tolerances.

I've hidden mine in a box within a box in an external storage unit.

The treatment for yellowing is Retr0brite.

Depends how elaborate you want to be. Brush it on yellowed areas and throw it in a sunny window. Or perhaps you prefer a liquid solution in a tank surrounded by UV lights? As long as you’ve got hydrogen peroxide at a sufficient % and UV light, it should produce the chemical reaction necessary to remove standard bromine based yellowing. For more info, see

This is the part I'm curious about; IS this standard yellowing? I'm genuinely asking, and wondering if this type of anti-yellowing product will have the same effect on this new rash of yellowing since it's supposedly not related to bromine.

That, sir, is the million dollar question. I don’t know that we have an answer but I have seen many folks adamantly insist there is no bromine in the modern plastics, so the efficacy of retrobrite may be an issue with this modern yellowing. Others have insisted it’ll still work. I’ve not tried it, personally, so I can’t say one way or the other. I’ve just accepted that I’ll eventually be painting every figure at some point.

Most retrobrite “science” isn’t solid anyway, ao I think it’s just a free for all at this point.

Has there been any yellowing reported on SS BB Thrust?
I don't have a camera at the moment but my SS86 Blurr has a lot of discolored plastic
My Siege Acid Storm also has some discolored plastic, but it might just be an isolated case.

So how much are you guys letting the yellowing effect your purchases?

I've been hesitant ever since I started noticing it on some of my figures like Selects Artfire & Cyberverse Arcee. Like I wanna dive into the Wreck N' Rule collection cause I legit want every character in it, but don't know if it's gonna be worth it like 2 months from now, ya know?

I don’t think any of the Wreck N’ Rule dudes have genuinely yellowed I think a few people have gotten discolored Leadfoots though.

It is no just the yellowing issue, it is the whole CHPS situation. The cheap hollow plastic syndrome is just worse and worse with time.

I have months without buying official Transformers, and only try to buy 3Ps and 4Ps with better quality, something unbelievable in the G1 era.

I'm skipping some of the toys thanks to this thread, like Selects Artfire is one of them. If there's no report here, I'll still buy the ones I really want. But mostly, I'm being very selective because of the multiple price hikes we got in the short span of time.
