My sister loves campy, schlocky movies and also the Munsters, so this is right up her alley. She said it had some good music, it was campy as hell … but still awful. She really liked the Disco Vampire song though, so it’s not a total waste.
I never cared about the Munsters who to me always seemed like a knockoff of the more popular Addams Family, and this movie did little to make me change my mind. Most of the plot is some really convoluted scheme to get the Count's house, and a prequel to explain how they ended up in America? Like we needed that for an ancient TV show... Maybe Rob was hoping he could get a TV show reboot out of this, if so, he was sorely mistaken. 4.4 on IMDB, even worse on Rottentomatoes... nobody seems to care. Clearly Rob was not the best idea for a director. The Munsters (2022) - IMDb Making the sets to look like, well, sets and not the real world was a bold move, also probably cheaper than filming at locations... And yeah, Rob, maybe admit it, your wife might be pretty but she can't act. Giving her one of the main roles in a comedy was a mistake. Ever since the pandemic, that's where shows expected to score embarrassingly low income at the theaters go. At least this way the studio can hide their shame from the world and say " well a lot of people watched it on Netflix, you just cannot see the statistics!"
Yeah, he has fallen into something similar to the Jovovich Resident Evil lead casting bull loop. I disagree on the Munsters not being interesting though. I like both them and the Addams, eventhough they a big bite off of them. However, when they mentioned Rob Zombie for this film, I said "Dammit". I have not watched the film yet, but at least I will give him credit for not turning them into Chainsaw Massacre rehashed trailer park degenerates like his past movies. In one review they stated that he should have had invested on better writers. That might have made the end product not as grating.
Well, that already happened in at least one of the Sharknado movies... Apparently he really liked the old show. Which is why I did not expect him to turn this into some gruesome horror. However, the comedy is slapstick and over the top, while as I read from reviews that's not what the old show was like. Indeed he should have hired better writers... And cast someone more talented than his wife.
My wife watched it and said it was god awful with the grandpa being the worst thing about the movie (even worse than Sherri Moon).
You called it Hurricane Ian brings video of shark swimming in Florida streets and Twitter users are sinking their teeth into it
It’s cringy bad. Not even campy or likeable, or even funny. A hard swing and a miss. 43% good on Rotten Tomatoes is really generous. It should be like a 0%. If you have not seen it give it a try and tell me I not crazy for thinking it deserves a 0%.
Watching it now. And it is as terrible as everyone says. To borrow a line from the film "I can feel my brain cells dying". Only had the tiniest of laughs and it was at the end of the nosfaratu vampire's dance a tiny pop of confetti goes off. I kinda let out a tiny "heh" then felt shame at laughing at that.
