This figure will most likely not be painted at all except where needed to match other parts or tampos. It will just be coloured plastic. The prototypes are typically grey parts only and they hand paint them to look like the final figure. Hence the grey colour showing under the red paint chips.

This has been the case for decades but people still comment every time they see paint chips on a prototype.
