UT Nero is far from frustrating or complex, like everything from UT, it just works

Most MPM figures have been fairly straightforward though I remember MPM 07 Prime, Ironhide and BB Movie Bee to be pretty frustrating, while the UT figures have had a perfect streak as far as transformations go

Only downside to UT transformations is they hate rounding corners. Galvatron is literally painful to transform and digs into your hands. Unfortunately from the sound of it this guy is much of the same.

Transformed him in about 30-40 minutes for the first time while watching Emgo, compared to 4 hours for AAT’s.

UT’s plastic quality is just top notch while AAT’s quality is thin and brittle. However I don’t mind the trailer on UT at all, instead, it is quite aesthetic. As mentioned above, the transformation is extremely fun and intuitive. I will start dabbing some brown paint on top just like @silverej (loved his work)

This is for the trailer scale if anyone wants it
(ignore my mistransformed megs, I always mess up the first time:p )
    839FE881-5FB5-4C74-9BC8-7B5CA7CDC46C.jpeg

    Pros
    - Robot mode
    - Huge trailer (like in the movie)
    - Fun transformation
    - Quality
    - Diecast

    Cons
    - Thin tires
    - Not the best paint choice
    - Long side view mirros, okayish trailer, no seats or truck cockpit, calves on top of the trailer

Really enjoying all the pics coming in here! Got mine yesterday and I'm absolutely thrilled with him in hand, like @eVac Z (love the cape flap!) , I actually thought Monocrat was a dead cert for figure of the year for me, I even reorganised how and what I collect around him, but Desperado might just take the crown he's that good! I'm flawed by the quality of the plastic, menacing look of a favourite design. Plus the hardware on this guy is top notch!

I had a space made in one of my cupboards as of about 4 months ago, hehe, see Desperado vs Monocrat shelf presence-

For those of you who have installed the batteries in the head: Please give me some tips! I fucking hated trying to do that last night. It was super frustrating, and they barely worked. On top of that, every time I would close the head back up the button would seem to be stuck and not do anything! So when I finally FINALLY got the LEDs to work, I wouldn't be able to shut them off once the head was closed. It was really frustrating. UT needs to step up their game when it comes to interior head component design. I almost lost the button several times, too, and I did end up losing one of the head screws. SMH. It does look insanely dope though, with the eyes lit!

Interesting. They definitely intended to give people a blank slate on which to customize it.
It is literally a pain to transform. Plus worrying about the horns breaking makes it not fun for me.
Hah! Actually compared to Nero that is cute and cuddly.
You gotta sort of snap them forward/down. It really helps with stability too when posing. This is actually my least favorite aspect of the figure so far.
Wow, looks like AAT literally falls short! :D
Looks good but this is one of the last figures I'd say needs a replacement head. I wish they'd focus on some that need it badly, instead of making V25 of Optimus and now this.

My brushes eagerly await your arrival, this will be a fun project.

Exactly, I dont even see that much difference between the two heads anyways, except some molded in rust detail. UT has always done a very good job in sculting the heads and never thought they needed upgraded. I would really like a head for BMB Ironhide, or MPM Jazz mainly because a don't like the spilt down the middle of the forehead.

Sorry asking this again. I turned the eyes on again this morning, and they've been stuck in the "on" position all day and the batteries are failing already, but I've been at work all day so I haven't exactly been able to do brain surgery on a figure. Can anyone help?

Have you taken the head back apart? That little button was the most frustrating thing to deal with. It kept falling out when I was trying to put mine back together. IT could be possible that when you reassembled things that little button is not lined up correctly.

I was in the same boat as you. I think it's because the button is too short. What I did with mine is I removed it completely. Now I use a toothpick instead.

I agree I think it’s the last figure that needs a new head although I like the option however the main thing that bugs me with the original head is the leds imo are way too bright so having the option for a different head is nice I agree that other bots should get better heads

Like @Dah Padre said the connecting button is a bit short (and very small), I would just try and reassamble it again and check the actual internal button is off and sticking out first before you screw it back together. I also find it's hard to turn off even when everything went smoothly, I really have to use the edge of my nail, but it does turn off with a bit of effort. I took the side of the head off first before I took the back off, not sure if that helps much though.

Thanks for all your suggestions! I think I may do what @silverej mentioned and get rid of that awful button. I think what's happening is when it's pushed in it doesn't stay inside the grooves and falls out of alignment, since as everyone mentioned it seems to be too short. So annoying. I wouldn't care that much except he looks SO GOOD with the LEDs on, I still want to keep it as a feature.

    IMG_3106.JPG
Thanks dude! Haha yeah it's frustratingly close to being able to do the pose perfectly. The elbow swivel is hindered a bit by the panels surrounding it but you can still get a decent range of motion. The knees have the best articulation, being able to go way past 90.

Sorry for the double post but no one else is posting pics of this awesome figure. I experimented with more extreme poses today, since once you learn to deal with the dumb ankles he's actually really posable. I try to do poses that don't require stands, mainly since I don't have any stands that could possibly support a figure of this weight anyways!
