Yeah IDW Optimus was only a little taller than the average Autobot. ALTHOUGH in terms of raw height IDW Optimus is 38' tall with the carbots at about 28'. "Mini" bots are around 22'.

For the longest time I love this figure. Because it's a 3rd party CHUG size. But he's actually Ginrai/jinrai not optimus prime. But has awesome articulation.

But this new SND-08 optimus prime..maybe it will be my new favourite 3rd party CHUG scale optimus prime. Great articulation too.
Cyberverse of madness in CHUG scale and I loving it. Screenshot_20220728_181054_com.google.android.youtube_edit_296407385953208.jpg SND-08-IDW-Optimus-Prime-09.jpg

Love the size, love the articulation, love the engineering,
    Can't wait

A good idea could be having this as Prime and the other as Ginrai.

Im sorry but Striker Manus blows both this and the PE molds away

More CHUG options is good but they seem to have made the transformation hugely inefficient

I agreed striker manus is a great figure.
    No doubt.
But it's still not my favourite chug scale figure.
    Just my personal opinion.
But yes happy to get more optimus prime chug scale.

Beautiful. I love his back is nice and clean too

He will be a new edition to the cyberverse of madness.... poor little headmaster is confused to see many versions of optimus prime in the multiverse cyberverse

I have a hunch that this optimus might be around the same size as the thrilling 30s Springer. Which for a sunbow-scaled IDW collection, doesn't seem too bad.

Almost the same as ER optimus prime.
I think it has better proportion.

It is. ER Prime has the big booba, stumpy arms and long legs, while this guy's proportions aren't completely accurate to the comic are definitely an improvement.

Still wish the wheels in his arms where the actual front truck wheels integrated into them.

Good pic. That's a crazy punch.
Yeah but even the newest masterpiece optimus prime cheats a lot with the transformation to get the G1 look.
SS86 hotrod with the fake chest, ER optimus prime use a different belly grill... and many more like them.
It's like a common thing now. Not surprise by it.
So I don't mind that this figure do it too.
    Figure looks good.
    Articulation is good.
Alt mode is a good earth truck.
    Transformation like a masterpiece figure.
The energon blades is a big PLUS ➕
Hope more companies do more chug scale optimus primes

i agree. There’s a lot of faux parts of this thing, and that turns me off a bit. But like Wan said it seems most Optimus designs resort to faux parts, especially earth modes, so I’m trying to be forgiving about that.

Do wish that practice went away. Magic Square showed that a G1 style Optimus doesn't need a faux grille for example so it would be great if that would be the standard.

But did it turn the chest windows inside out to get the G1 look like mp44?
Or a different magic Square figure?

    V1 didn't, although V2 does.

On V1 the only fake parts were the different fuel tanks.

So v1 has different fuel tanks between modes and has bit of truck bits in robot mode right? More beefy than v2....
    So...
V1... realistic truck so it's not a cartoon accurate truck, robot waist visible in truck mode. Beefy with truck bits on the back of robot mode so it's not cartoon accurate too. Fake gas tanks.
V2... more cartoon accurate truck and cartoon accurate robot mode. But use more fake parts to get the accurate look in both modes.
So yeah... to get a 100% cartoon G1 truck to a 100% G1 cartoon figure is impossible without fake parts.
Especially the truck front bumper, that is suppose to be prime's waist in robot mode. Like how? Can that same truck bumper part be use for both truck and robot mode without fake parts? Nope. It's impossible. The old G1 toy use it but it's far from cartoon accurate in robot mode.
And so.... for this new idw figure....
I don't mind the fake parts.
It's a common thing. Not something new.
It needs to be there to make a figure good in both modes..
And the bay figures? That's a whole different level of fake parts right there.
So again for this new idw optimus prime.
Fake tires on the arms? Meh
    Fake belly grill? Meh
    It's Nothing new.
    It's a common thing.
I forgive it and welcome it if it makes both robot and alt mode look good
    So.
Robot and EARTH truck modes looks good.
    Articulation is good.
    Engineering is crazy good.
    Energon blades? Hell yeah!
No trailer? I don't miss it, but if it's available then I don't mind it.
Chug size? Oh yes! More chug optimus prime please.
    Give me more

Looking good, but jeez, they need to paint those flat grey parts silver. Looks too much like an unpainted model at the moment.

I’m going to admit something. I don’t mind if this guy is smaller than the usual MMC stuff. Why that is? Well when I first got back into collecting transformers and was buying some third party stuff, I was gonna have my scale based upon roughly the size of their real life alt modes for my neo-g1/idw scale(although not completely perfect or accurate, it’s more of a eyeballed kind of scale anyway)

and seeing this guy really takes me back so regardless of how big MMC’s Tyrantron or CW ultra Magnus is, I think this is a perfect win for me. Ticks that box I wasn’t able to tick ages ago.
